WooCommerce Developer (Mid-Level): Why an eshop is not just a WordPress with a cart
At Digital Challenge, an eshop is not just WordPress with products and a project is not just a new client. We want to build and establish partnerships that last for many years, and that is how we want our projects to be as well. We are an Agency specializing in the development (they call it Growth in English) of eshops so that they reach and exceed €1,000,000 through WooCommerce and remain profitable. Thus, we are not looking for someone who will copy-paste and hope it works. We are looking for the developer who considers the client's problem their own and delivers every task they undertake as if they were doing it for their own project. What you will do in the team: You will set up, configure & support eshops on WoodMart. You will write custom PHP snippets and hooks to make WooCommerce do exactly what each project needs, in order to extend and adapt its capabilities as we grow together. You will work on the speed and stability of the eshops, especially during moments of high traffic when no mistake is tolerated on an eshop receiving dozens or hundreds of orders per day. You will identify and solve technical problems, with the help of proprietary AI tools, but the responsibility for the solution remains yours.
You will handle Elementor to set up custom layouts that adapt to the growth needs of the project.
You will work through ClickUp, with a clear picture of what is pending at any moment, what needs to be done today, what was left behind, and what we have scheduled for the coming days. You will join our working system, built through many projects, years of experience, and thousands of pages of documentation, and we will guide you so that you don't have to discover it all on your own. On the other hand, we want you to be able to take ownership of a task, as they say in our village, ownership. We also consider the daily, detailed recording of working time very important, because that is how we organize ourselves properly as a team. Oh, and something that shouldn't be considered a skill, but as long as we aren't talking only to AI yet, we want you to be able to communicate with people to coordinate with them in a meeting, on a call, or in an email. Required Qualifications: 2-4 years of experience in the development and maintenance of WooCommerce eshops Experience in writing custom snippets (PHP, hooks, filters) Experience in speed optimization (WP Rocket, caching strategies) Experience using Elementor (customization, dynamic content, theme builder) Good knowledge of PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript Familiarity with AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, write us your favorite in the job application as a comment) for faster development and debugging Understanding of Web Services & APIs interfacing (JSON / XML) Good knowledge of English Consistency with timelines and team spirit Completed military obligations (for male candidates) Will be particularly appreciated: Experience in custom plugins/themes Basic SEO knowledge Tools we use: ClickUp, Slack, Git, PhpStorm/VS Code, PuTTY, FileZilla, Postman, SSH Benefits: We prefer working in the office; we do not reject full remote, but for this position and the experience it offers, we will prefer individuals with a presence in our offices. Excellent working environment. We are not a family, nor do we play the "friendly gang from a movie" role. We are professionals who respect each other, resolve their disagreements calmly, and there is no need for voices to be raised to be heard. Participation in interesting and complex e-commerce projects. Full-time at our offices in Pylaia (Monday-Friday, 09:00-17:00), the break is within the 8-hour workday. Continuous training and evolution opportunities. Coffee and tea are always available, depending on what you like. The salary we offer: €14,000-€17,000 net annually. Oh, and one last thing. At Digital Challenge, we don't say "Geitses", we say "Diches" (pronounced dit-ses). And no, in the interview, you don't need to tell us that you are ready "for the Challenge". We have been hearing that for years; we already know it's a clever pun. Beyond your CV, we appreciate seeing work that you have participated in or completed.
