This position is part of the Office of Policy's, Economic Growth and Energy Jobs Office (OP-40). As a Supervisory Economist, you will serve as the Office Director for OP-40 and serve as the liaison between the Executive Director/Principal Deputy Director and staff, and other program offices to carry out the Department's priorities. You will act as the subject matter authority on all issues surrounding economic growth, energy jobs creation, research and oil and gas markets.

The Office of Policy's, Economic Growth and Energy Jobs Office (OP-40), serves as the focal point within the Department of Energy (DOE) on policies which maximize the economic benefits of energy dominance strategy and fuel supply, and energy supply chains, in order to create high-quality job opportunities for all Americans. Veterans shape the future of energy As a Supervisory Economist, you will: Provide authoritative economic analyses, expert advice, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership on energy markets, workforce trends, and national energy policy. Formulate and execute complex economic models, studies, and evaluations-focusing on oil, gas, energy markets, and supply chains to address emerging national energy challenges. Direct the data collection, analysis, and publication of the annual U.S. Energy Employment Report (USEER) and lead the Energy Workforce Advisory Board (EWAB). Collaborate across Department of Energy offices to ensure energy programs integrate economic growth, job creation, energy security, and energy affordability into long-term planning. Lead interagency working groups and represent DOE with Congressional committees, industry stakeholders, state/local governments, and international entities to advance energy policies. Plan, assign, and evaluate work; establish performance standards; mentor employees; and handle administrative, hiring, training needs and disciplinary actions for the division.

Qualifications

You must meet both the Basic Requirement and the Specialized Experience to qualify for this series as described below. BASIC REQUIREMENT: Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus. OR Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-14 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting ALL of the following: Providing strategic direction for and centralized coordination of economic analysis or financial developments related to the oil and gas sector. Evaluating energy policies, programs and projects impacting affordability and economic prosperity. Formulating strategies to align oil and gas sector impacts with energy supply priorities. Directing the work of a team of oil and gas experts to provide expert advice to senior leadership. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
