Role Overview – Client Partner

The Client Partner is the senior accountableowner of strategic client partnerships, responsible for protecting and growingthe long-term value of the relationship.

The role owns the client growth agenda,senior stakeholder relationships, commercial performance, retention andstrategic direction of the partnership. The Client Partner is expected tounderstand where the client’s business is heading, identify the most valuableproblems dentsu can help solve, and mobilise the right capabilities across theorganisation to capture those opportunities.

Operating primarily with C-suite, ExCo andsenior functional leaders, the Client Partner acts as a trusted businessadvisor rather than the day-to-day account lead.

The Client Partner is ultimately accountablefor the health and performance of the account and how it helps grow the overallbusiness.

Key Accountabilities

Media, B2B, ABM & Strategic Leadership

Act as the lead across priority client relationships, shaping the overall marketing, media and growth agenda alongside the client. Be accountable for the profitability on the accounts, including looking at resource allocation and utilisation.

Set the strategic ambition for the account and ensure dentsu is solving increasingly valuable business and marketing problems for the client, beyond the immediate brief or channel requirement.

Turn complex business and marketing challenges into sharp strategic problems, clear choices and actionable recommendations.

Bring sufficient strategic depth across B2B, media, ABM, demand generation and customer experience to shape senior client conversations, identify opportunities and challenge the quality of the work, without becoming the day-to-day strategy or delivery lead.

Develop strong strategic narratives and frameworks that simplify complexity and create alignment across senior stakeholders.

Ensure media strategy goes beyond channel planning, defining the role media should play across awareness, demand creation, consideration, account engagement and conversion.

Manage Client Directors x their respective teams. Client Director owns the day-to-day management, delivery, operational performance and execution of the client relationship.

Use customer, category, competitive and performance insight to identify whitespace opportunities and inform future client strategy.

Challenge client assumptions constructively and bring a clear point of view on what the business should do differently.

Draft and design SOW documents for new scopes or new projects.

Have a clear point of view on preferred partners based on effectiveness and proven delivery quality.

Client Partnership & Leadership

Own the overall client relationship while also serving as a senior strategic advisor, not simply the point of escalation or delivery oversight.

Build, maintain, and deepen trusted senior‑level client partnerships, including C‑suite, regional leadership, and key decision‑makers.

Serve as a strategic advisor, translating complex business challenges into effective media, customer experience, and growth strategies.

Shape and lead a forward‑looking client partnership strategy, proactively identifying opportunities, anticipating needs, and strengthening long‑term advocacy and retention.

Business & Commercial Ownership

Carry clear accountability for revenue, margin, retention and organic growth across the client portfolio.

Drive revenue growth, profitability, and margin discipline while ensuring high‑quality, integrated delivery.

Own a clear annual and multi-year account growth plan, identifying the 2–3 most important opportunities to expand dentsu’s role, increase share of wallet.

Own and manage commercial targets, forecasts, and budgets, ensuring strong financial governance and transparency.

Lead commercial finance management, including revenue forecasting, budget control, and performance reporting.

New Business & Growth

Play a senior strategic role in new business pitches, particularly across B2B, media and ABM opportunities.

Work with Strategy and Media teams to build differentiated, commercially compelling responses.

Lead or contribute to senior pitch presentations, demonstrating both strategic depth and commercial credibility.

Identify repeatable strategic approaches, IP and solutions that can strengthen the wider dentsu B2B proposition and create new revenue opportunities.

Key Experience & Background

  • At least 4 years in a Client Partner or senior client leadership role, managing complex, multi‑stakeholder client relationships. And a total of 14+ years of experience in account management or strategy in a media/integrated agency.
  • Proven track record of winning, growing, and retaining large, strategic accounts.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver commercial growth and expansion opportunities, including integrated and multi‑market engagements.
  • Strong experience operating in matrixed and virtual organisations.
  • Resilient, accountable leader who thrives in fast-paced, high-expectation environments.
  • Ownership of measurement and reporting frameworks, linking activity to clear, commercially grounded business outcomes.
  • Values‑led leader who role‑models dentsu’s North Star and 8 Ways.
  • Strong cultural awareness with the ability to adapt leadership and communication style across markets.
