This position is part of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency.

Major duties

As a PLANS AND READINESS OFFICER at the GS-0301-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Serves on the Deployment Readiness team with the 35 Future Operations Division
  • Tracks the readiness levels of the deployable teams and individuals
  • Creates and present briefing slides to senior leaders
  • Schedules training sessions available for the entire agency for weapons qualification, medical clearance, ISOPREP, and other pre-deployment activities
  • Completes products and reports on a variety of computer based programs and applications
  • Participates in military exercises as a subject-matter-expert on deployment readiness
  • Supports high-tempo, real-world crisis operations

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:

  • Managing travel or deployment programs for either military and civilian personnel, ensuring travelers are mission ready to deploy to overseas locations in support of Combatant Commands (as outlined their travel requirements) or international organizations
  • Participating in various working groups, committees, contingency plans updates, and training exercises which create briefing slides for senior leaders on the Readiness levels of the agency or command
  • Working with the Defense Readiness and Reporting System (DRRS) or Joint Planning and Execution System (JOPES) at either a Combat Support Agency, Defense Agency, military staff, or federal agency staff
  • Experience with military, or emergency responder, use of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) masks, protective equipment, test equipment, and the decontamination procedures and processes
  • Serving on a military, federal agency, or other large staff, completing high-quality products, tasks, projects, and deliverables for senior leaders using computer programs and applications.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
