FACULTY SENIOR ASSOCIATE
This position is part of the Defense Security Cooperation University (DSCU) within the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA). The incumbent supports the University's education, training, workforce development, and advising missions. Duties include preparing and delivering instruction on security cooperation topics, including Foreign Military Sales (FMS), advising U.S. and partner nation officials, conducting research and analysis, and developing instructional materials.
Major duties
As a FACULTY SENIOR ASSOCIATE at the AD-1701-3 some of your typical work assignments may include: Serve as specialists in their respective disciplines and primarily support the University's education, training, workforce development, and advising missions, while also contributing to the University's research, analysis, and lessons learned activities. Develop major segments of the curriculum/advising program to include planning, developing course materials, readings, and other instructional resources in accordance with DSCU curriculum development standards and processes. Deliver educational content and provide advisory services in areas of expertise to both U.S. and foreign partner nation officials to advance U.S. national security objectives. Provide academic advice in areas of expertise to DSCU faculty and students to facilitate and demonstrate a capacity for scholarship, independent judgment, academic rigor, and intellectual honesty. Develops alternative courses of study, assesses proposed curriculum changes, and provides recommendations to DSCU leadership. Provide strategic planning input related to use of technology, resources, and support needs.
Qualifications
You may qualify at the AD-03 if you fulfill the following qualifications. Your resume must support all of the following requirements to be considered for the position. Please ensure transcripts reflecting a conferred master's degree are also provided with your application: 1. Master's degree from a regionally or nationally accredited university in a relevant functional area required: international relations, economics, foreign affairs, history, political science, business administration, defense and strategy, or a related field that supports DSCU's programming, research, analysis, or messaging needs. 2. Five (5) years of experience with the practice, training, or study of security cooperation. 3. Experience in government, military, private sector, or academia shall be of sufficient depth or breadth as to establish professional expertise in leadership, management,planning, and execution tasks. 4. Documented intellectual contributions to practice in areas of expertise through developing or revising policy, doctrine, analytic, or instructional materials, publications in peer-reviewed publications, or invited presentations to professional, public, or academic audiences. 5. Five (5) years of direct experience in a Security Cooperation role, including at least one (1) permanent assignment to a U.S. embassy. Experience designing, delivering, and evaluating training and/or education for adult learners, preferably in the military or interagency environment. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study. FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
