SUPERVISORY EQUAL EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST
This position is part of the Defense Human Resources Activity. The incumbent will serve as the Department Head of the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Department for the Education and Training Directorate within DEOMI. The incumbent is to serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to the EEO training Department of DEOMI.
Major duties
As a SUPERVISORY EQUAL EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST at the GS-0260-14 some of your typical work assignments may include: Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets, and adjusts short-term priorities and long-term plan. Prepares schedules for completion of work. Evaluates work performance of subordinates; gives advice, counsel, or instruction to individuals and team on both work and administrative matters. Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Department, establishes policies and procedures for accomplishment of department's mission. Provides subject matter expertise to DEOMI Program Managers, on policy guidance planning and provides overall direction, control, and operation of the EEO training department. Collaborates with Instructional Systems Specialists within the Curriculum Development Department to provide subject matter expertise and support the development, revision, and enhancement of curriculum and instructional materials within the EEO occupational career field. Presents instruction in a variety of DEOMI courses or lessons. Supports research and analysis on course content and target audience. Supports the development of instruction based on expert knowledge of law, policy, and regulation.
Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service: Applying federal Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and civil rights laws, regulations, and directives to advise leadership on compliance, analyze organizational demographic trends or systemic workforce barriers, and prepare strategic reports or briefings on program health and effectiveness. Planning, designing, updating, or instructing adult education courses, workshops, or training modules focused on EEO, civil rights, workplace conduct, to include evaluating training feedback and collaborating with subject matter experts or instructional developers to enhance course content. Supervising or leading a team of professional staff, which includes planning and distributing work, establishing performance standards and priorities, evaluating employee performance, resolving workplace conflicts or grievances, and supporting professional development and training needs. Advising on or administering reasonable accommodation processes, disability employment programs, or other initiatives in accordance with civil rights statutes (such as the Rehabilitation Act or Americans with Disabilities Act) to identify and address workplace accessibility and participation barriers. Managing, conducting, or administering formal or informal workplace conflict resolution processes, such as facilitating mediations, administering Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) programs, or processing and evaluating discrimination complaints through counseling, inquiry, or investigation stages. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
