Software Architect
Job Description · Own the end-to-end software and system architecture for C3 / C2 systems, covering applications, middleware, data, networking and security layers. · Assess the existing architecture, identify gaps (performance, scalability, resilience, security) and drive improvements through to implementation. · Lead integration of C2 sub-systems, sensors and third-party products; debug hands-on during FAT/SAT and SSAT/OSAT. · Act as final technical escalation point; define high availability, redundancy and failover requirements. · Guide developers through design and code reviews; set engineering and CI/CD standards. · Design security-by-design solutions aligned with CII requirements; support hardening, VA/PT remediation and accreditation. · Support pre-sales with solution design, technical proposals and effort estimation.
Qualities We Value · Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent. · 8+ years hands-on software / system development, with 3+ years as an architect. · Proven track record as lead architect on at least 2 systems delivered end-to-end, preferably government, defence or CII. · Still codes and debugs hands-on (e.g. Java, C#/.NET, C++ or Python) across OS, network and application layers. · Strong in system integration (APIs, message brokers), Linux/Windows, virtualisation/containers and networking. · Good knowledge of security, privacy and compliance in the government domain. · Able to explain technical issues clearly to management, customers and vendors. · Good to have: C2 / command centre, sensor (radar, EO/IR) or GIS experience; TOGAF, CISSP or similar.
