Project Director
Job Description & Requirements
As a Director, Project at DB&B, you will take the lead on complex commercial interior projects from inception through completion. You’ll work closely with clients, project teams and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered to a high standard, on time and within budget, while supporting DB&B’s business and client objectives. We’re looking for a strong project leader who can bring together creative thinking, commercial awareness and effective leadership to deliver successful projects and build lasting client relationships.
What you'll do
Project Pitching
- Meet with new clients alongside the Business Development team to understand their needs, project scope and expectations, and provide expert advice and solutions.
- Lead and direct project pitching activities, including proposals, delivery strategies, staffing plans and resource allocation across different project phases.
Project Management
- Lead, mentor and work closely with Project and Operations teams and contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time and to a high standard of quality.
- Act as a key interface between DB&B and our clients, gathering feedback, addressing issues and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Negotiate contracts, proactively manage project risks and put mitigation strategies in place.
- Oversee project coordination and ensure projects remain aligned with schedules, budgets and client expectations. Monitor project performance and take corrective action where required.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure work complies with design specifications, building codes and relevant regulations.
- Ensure teams follow company policies and workflows, reviewing and approving processes to maintain consistency and efficiency.
- Plan and assign projects to team members, ensuring resources are well managed and projects run smoothly.
- Review layout plans, M&E plans and visuals prepared by the team, and oversee time plans, competitive quotations and costings for client tenders while safeguarding company profit margins.
- Review work-in-progress reports submitted by the team and follow up on key project matters.
- Facilitate payment collections in accordance with contracts, working closely with the Finance Department to support healthy project cash flow.
- Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned by your superior or EXCO.
What you'll bring
- A background in Project Management, Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or a related field. Advanced degrees or professional certifications such as PMP are an advantage.
- At least 10 years of relevant project management experience, with a proven track record managing large-scale and complex commercial interior design projects.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to lead, mentor and motivate project teams.
- Strong understanding of project management processes and tools, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Excellent client-facing and relationship management skills, with the ability to understand client needs, resolve issues and build long-term relationships.
- Solid understanding of budgeting, financial management and contract negotiation, with the ability to manage project finances and safeguard profitability.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly in project deliverables, quality standards and regulatory compliance.
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills to drive projects and teams towards successful outcomes.
