The position:

As part of a technical assistance project, we are looking for a Product Development Manager - M/F for one of our clients in the railway / mechatronics sector (onboard battery systems). You will work at the client site located in Alsace, near Mulhouse (68).

Your missions will be as follows:

• Act as the interface between R&D and the production plant, and guarantee product integrity (safety, performance) throughout its life cycle at the final assembly site;
• Define and apply the product development process specific to your projects, in accordance with group standards;
• Guarantee robust and manufacturable design (including validations), in line with engineering standards, best practices, and financial objectives;
• Serve as the technical reference for the plant and support teams in their decision-making, including the processing of deviation requests;
• Provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams (operators, technicians, engineers, managers): EOL (end of line) control support, safe launch, and associated monitoring;
• Perform level 2 analyses in support of after-sales and warranty teams regarding customer complaints and field returns, via the 8D method, and capitalize on lessons learned;
• Ensure the interface with internal and external customers on R&D topics raised by the plant, and relay the voice of the customer internally;
• Drive product evolutions (modifications, improvements, VA/VE) via the ECR process, from the costing phase to series implementation, and update associated deliverables;
• Ensure the planning and budget management of R&D activities managed in the plant, including workload estimation;
• Contribute to prototype and pre-series builds, risk mitigation plans, phase 7 management, and transfers.

Profile sought:

• Engineer by training in mechanical and/or electronic engineering, you have 3 to 10 years of experience in mechatronics R&D development, in a railway or automotive environment;
• You also have significant experience in the R&D / production interface on programs in the series phase;
• You have skills in 8D, FTA, and DFMEA analysis, as well as in product modification management (ECR);
• You have good knowledge of plastic and metallic materials and their processing technologies, industrial processes, railway standards applied to battery design, and automotive standards for the design of onboard converters;
• You are familiar with quality systems (IATF 16949, IQSR, ISO/IEC 17025);
• You master product development and DFMEA tools;
• You are recognized for your organizational skills and your ability to manage your activities as well as those of the team;
• Proficiency in technical English is required for this mission (fluent, including technical discussion). Proficiency in a third language is a plus.
