We are currently recruiting for a Mental Health Law Practitioner / Receptionist to join our team across the Grange and Lodge.

This dual-role position combines responsibility for ensuring compliance with Mental Health Act legislation and providing a professional, welcoming reception service for patients, visitors, professionals and colleagues.

The successful candidate will be highly organised, approachable and able to manage a varied workload in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Your Day-to-Day

Mental Health Law Responsibilities

Ensure all procedures relating to the Mental Health Act 1983 and associated legislation are adhered to. Ensure the lawful detention of patients and the maintenance of accurate statutory records. Ensure all Mental Health Act documentation is securely stored and maintained. Re ceive and process section papers during working hours. Arrange correction of any errors relating to patient detention to ensure legal compliance. Ensure patients and nearest relatives are informed of their rights and support them in exercising those rights where appropriate. Maintain an up-to-date list of mental health solicitors and support arrangements for representation at hearings and appeals where appropriate. Liaise with clinical teams, external agencies and legal representatives as required. Support Mental Health Act audits and compliance monitoring activities.

Reception Responsibilities

Deliver a professional and welcoming front-of-house service. Greet and assist visitors, patients, families and external professionals. Answer, screen and redirect telephone calls and email enquiries. Manage incoming and outgoing post and deliveries. Maintain visitor logs and site access procedures. Provide general administrative support to the hospital team. Book meetings, arrange appointments and support diary management where required. Ensure reception and public areas are maintained to a professional standard.

We Are Looking For Someone Who Has

Previous administration and customer service experience. Experience working in a reception or front-of-house environment. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook. GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths. The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities. Experience working within healthcare or mental health services is desirable. Knowledge of Mental Health Law and associated legislation is desirable. Knowledge of compliance and auditing requirements within hea lthcare settings is desirable.
