Roles of Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY
The GM will take on a proactive role in line with Cuesports Singapore’s directions to raise and develop its profile and prominence within the sports industry, devise strategies to develop the sport, enhance its profile, diversify revenue streams and promote the sport to attract sponsors. The incumbent will also be the key liaison person for Regional and International collaborations for the sport and be responsible for the day to day management of the organisation’s financials and running of CS operations.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sports Development
- Actively engage Affiliate members to provide support for the development of cuesports.
- Actively engage Athletes to facilitate and support their development plans.
- Business Development/Sponsorship Development
- Develop and implement strategies to diversify revenue streams.
- Develop and implement strategies to attract more sponsors.
- Secretariat Staff
- To ensure smooth and efficient secretariat office operations and that of Cuesports Academy (CSA).
- To be the Reporting Officer for all Professional & Management Staff of the CS Secretariat
- To manage all staffing issues
- Recommend, review and develop sports management and administration programmes and support schemes as well as policies to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of management practices and capabilities.
- Provide direction and oversee the work of all staff, approval of leave and other HR matters in accordance with the prevailing HR policies and ensure optimal staffing requirements.
- Motivate and manage a highly skilled and multi-disciplinary team.
- Plan, appraise and monitor staff development.
- Set up and monitor the effectiveness of communication channels to ensure that the Management Committee (MC), sub-committees, staff and members are kept informed of activities.
- CS Board
- Work with the CS Board to establish sound governance and accountability systems and processes.
- Provide support for all Board activities.
- Ensure Board members receive relevant documents.
- Keep Board members regularly informed of CS activities.
- Prepare the Annual Report for presentation at the Annual General Meeting.
- Finance & Compliance
- Oversee the overall budget for CS in collaboration with the Honorary Treasurer.
- Ensure that individual budgets for each programme are submitted and coordinated.
- Oversee the production of marketing documents for CS and source for sponsorship for programmes.
- Monitor and ensure finance processes are followed, request detailed budgets from the Committee Chairpersons before activities are carried out and ensure that a detailed list of the expenditure accompanied by receipts is submitted.
- Assist CS in any related applications for the Institution of Public Character (IPC) and upon attaining the same, to ensure compliance with the relevant statutes, laws and other regulations including requirements of Sport SG.
- Sport Singapore (Sport SG)
- Provide a direct link between CS and Sport SG.
- Prepare the Multi Year Sports Plan in accordance with the requirements of Sport SG.
- Ensure that all operations and procedures conform to the prevailing regulations, policies and guidelines issued by the Sport SG.
- To indicate desire outcomes for the position during the period of employment (i.e. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to be quantified and to specify the time frame for achieving the targets accordingly). This is to be done within six months after the commencement of employment.
- To help CS meet agreed upon KPIs by CS and Sport SG.
- To submit quarterly reports to Sport SG on progress made in the specified areas of responsibilities.
- International Affairs
- To collaborate and maintain good relationship with IAAF and AAA to develop the sport locally and regionally.
- To monitor and enforce all related sport requirements and as a key liaison to establish links and collaboration with other countries to further the sport.
- Public Relations
- Oversee the preparation of all press release and ensure that the releases are sent out at appropriate times for all activities, in consultation with the CS President and committee.
- Proof-read and edit all official documents and written communication to ensure that they fulfil both the needs of CS Sponsors.
- Coordinate the production, distribution and update of Annual Calendar of Events.
- Ensure that the CS website and Facebook page are regularly updated and monitored.
- Code of Ethics
- To act in the best interest of CS at all times and avoid any interest, activity or relationship that conflicts with the interests of CS.
- To ensure proper governance and stewardship over the properties, assets and monies of CS.
- Building and Maintenance
- Oversee the maintenance of all assets.
- Maintenance and/or upgrading of Cuesports training facilities including CSA
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Demonstrate knowledge in planning and possess good organisation skills
- Experience in managing a budget and a team
- Strong communicator in both written and oral English
- Good interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders
- Relevant experience in events management will be an added advantage
- Have a passion for sports and working with athletes
- Experience in Institutions of Public Character (IPC) will be a valuable consideration
