Test Application Engineer
As a Test Application Engineer in Genk, you are responsible for designing, preparing, executing, and optimizing test solutions within industrial automation projects. You will work on machines and turnkey installations for production, testing, and assembly processes and translate technical customer requirements into reliable test applications and efficient procedures.
In this role, you will work closely with engineering, software, mechanics, and project management to make test processes functional and reproducible. You will monitor the quality of the test setup, support the integration of hardware and software, and ensure that systems meet the agreed performance and quality standards.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Analyzing technical specifications and customer requirements for test applications.
- Setting up, configuring, and validating test environments and test procedures.
- Performing functional tests, error analyses, and performance verifications.
- Optimizing test flows, measurement methods, and test coverage.
- Documenting test results, deviations, and improvement actions.
- Supporting internal teams and customers with technical questions during integration and commissioning.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of test concepts, tools, and standards.

For this position, we are looking for a Test Application Engineer with a bachelor's or master's degree in electromechanics, automation, electronics, software, or a similar technical field, supplemented by approximately 3 to 5 years of relevant experience. You have a strong interest in test automation, industrial systems, and quality-oriented technical environments.
You possess an analytical and structured working style and feel comfortable in an environment where problem-solving, accuracy, and collaboration are central. Additionally, you combine technical expertise with sufficient communication skills to coordinate with internal teams and customers.
The ideal candidate recognizes themselves in the following profile:
- Experience with test setups, validation, troubleshooting, or integration within industrial automation.
- Good knowledge of hardware and software components in a technical environment.
- Ability to translate technical specifications into practical test solutions.
- Hands-on mentality and an eye for quality, safety, and reproducibility.
- Strong analytical skills and a systematic approach to error analysis.
- Fluent communication in English; knowledge of Dutch is an asset.
- Willingness to work in multidisciplinary and international teams.
Experience with industrial communication systems, automation platforms, or test software is a plus.
