Crunchyroll is a joint venture between Sony Pictures Entertainment in the US and Aniplex, a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc. in Japan (both are subsidiaries of Sony Group Corporation, headquartered in Tokyo).
About the Role
As a Senior Producer, you will report to the Vice President of the Anime Co-production team.
We are seeking applicants to work in our Tokyo office.
The primary goal of this role is to co-develop and produce exciting stories and beautiful animation with production partners that introduce various genres the world has yet to discover and attract new anime fans globally. You will select content that pays close attention to market trends in each region, captures the attention of fans worldwide, contributes to acquiring new subscribers to the platform, and generates further profit. You will support the head of Production Team A, assisting with strategy development and team management. Leveraging your expertise in content planning, production, and secondary use, as well as your extensive industry network, you will not only handle the production of your assigned titles but also engage in the planning and production of other team members' projects. As a manager, you will be required to guide junior producers and associate producers within the team and provide constructive feedback as a mentor.
Key Responsibilities
Propose works and projects suitable for Crunchyroll's streaming service regions
Plan and produce anime content through co-production committees
Build and maintain smooth relationships with production partners
Facilitate smooth communication between production committees and internal Crunchyroll teams
Guide and develop Producers and Associate Producers within Team A
Qualifications:
12+ years of professional experience in the anime industry
3+ years of team management experience
Expertise in general copyright business
Experience in anime production and marketing
Understanding of Japanese anime trends and interest in global anime trends
Native or business-level Japanese proficiency, conversational or higher English proficiency, and a desire for future learning
Experience working in a global company
Experience in analysis from a global perspective
About the Department
While Crunchyroll is widely recognized for content acquisition, it has also established itself as an important distribution and investment partner within the Japanese anime industry. The Production Team is a division of the Content Team and focuses on collaboration with external partners for the production of anime works. The team's strategic focus is to strengthen Crunchyroll's title lineup and contribute to the growth of the anime market across all service regions.
