As we deliver our ambitious 2030 Growth Strategy, we’re looking for a Lead Applications Scientist, Sun & Skin Care.

Job Summary

Lead innovative skin and sun care formulation projects by designing experiments, managing cross-functional collaborations, and delivering technical expertise to support product development and commercial success at Croda.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute laboratory experiments to develop novel skin and sun care formulations and troubleshoot technical challenges using data-driven approaches
• Lead multiple New Product Development (NPD), Existing Product Development (EPD), and Open Innovation projects independently, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality technical data and formulations
• Provide expert technical support to sales and marketing teams by responding to customer inquiries, recommending products, and conducting internal and client-facing technical training sessions
• Identify and engage external technology partners to address market needs, managing collaborative innovation projects from initiation to execution
• Translate complex scientific data into clear, actionable insights for diverse business stakeholders including R&D, Sales, and Marketing
• Collaborate cross-functionally to lead product development projects and support claims substantiation through clinical and in-vitro testing methodologies
• Develop and implement new skin and sun testing protocols to enhance product claims and performance evaluation
• Manage consumer research activities including panel recruitment and oversight to support product claims and development
• Write scientific reports incorporating robust statistical analyses to support product claims and regulatory compliance
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulations governing product label claims and claims substantiation

Required competencies and certifications

• Hands-on experience with in-vitro SPF and skin care clinical study measurements such as corneometer, TEWL, skin color, hydration, sebum, wrinkle, and elasticity assessments
• Proven project management skills to independently progress multiple projects to successful completion
• Strong communication skills to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders
• Degree in Chemistry, Biological Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, or related field; MSc or PhD preferred
• 5-7 years of experience in skin/sun clinical testing of personal care formulations for claims support
• Experience in basic formulation and troubleshooting of skin and sun care products
• Experience in external collaborations and partnerships
• Publications and presentations at technical conferences

Location

Role based at Croda Singapore IBP office, Jurong East

Travel

Occasional business travel to support customer visits, roadshows, exhibitions, and conferences
