Housing Litigation Lawyer - General Housing & Disrepair

Location: Stockport Salary: per annum Working Pattern: Hybrid / Flexible Role Type: Permanent

CRA Consulting are currently recruiting for a Housing Litigation Lawyer to join the Legal Services team of a Local Authority in Stockport. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Solicitor with experience in housing disrepair and wider housing litigation to take on a varied caseload, working closely with the Council and its Arms' Length Management Organisation (ALMO).

The Role

You will manage a personal caseload of housing-related legal matters, with a particular focus on housing disrepair , alongside housing management, anti-social behaviour, allocations and homelessness matters. Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing a personal caseload of housing litigation matters
• Handling housing disrepair claims from instruction through to resolution
• Advising on housing management and landlord & tenant matters
• Dealing with anti-social behaviour and related enforcement action
• Drafting claims, pleadings, applications, notices and instructions to Counsel
• Preparing witness statements and other court documentation
• Attending and conducting advocacy at courts and tribunals
• Advising Council and ALMO teams on legal and litigation issues
• Working closely with housing officers and other internal stakeholders
• Keeping up to date with developments in housing law and Local Authority practice

About You

The successful candidate will:

• Be a qualified Solicitor with a current Practising Certificate
• Have strong experience in housing disrepair law and practice
• Have experience in wider housing matters, ideally including housing management, ASB, allocations or homelessness
• Have experience managing a full and varied caseload
• Be confident drafting pleadings, applications and witness statements
• Have advocacy experience in courts and tribunals
• Have strong analytical and communication skills
• Be able to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider legal team
• Take a proactive, practical and risk-aware approach to legal work
