Systems Accountant
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Systems Accountant to join a public sector organisation undertaking a significant programme of development and improvement. With investment in its finance systems and operating model, this role offers the chance to take ownership of a new finance platform and play a central role in supporting the organisation's future success.
Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will take responsibility for the newly implemented Aqilla finance system, acting as the system owner and subject matter expert. You will be responsible for system configuration, user access, workflows, master data, key interfaces with payroll and banking systems, and ensuring the platform continues to support the organisation's evolving needs. Working closely with finance colleagues and wider stakeholders, you will help strengthen controls, improve processes and deliver an effective user experience across the business.
The successful candidate will be a qualified or part-qualified accountant, or possess comparable accounting knowledge gained through experience. You will have strong finance systems expertise, including experience configuring and administering cloud-based finance platforms, supporting system integrations and managing financial data. A sound understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, reconciliations and period-end processes is essential, alongside strong communication skills and the ability to provide training, guidance and support to users at all levels.
Experience of Aqilla or a similar cloud accounting system would be advantageous, as would exposure to finance system implementations, public sector organisations or complex governance environments.
This role offers the opportunity to work on an interesting and high-profile transformation programme. For the right individual, it will be a rewarding and varied assignment, providing the chance to take ownership of a key finance system and help establish the processes, controls and governance that will support the organisation for years to come.
Hybrid working arrangement with 2-3 days per week in the office.
