Role Overview

The Beauty Trainer is responsible for developing the technical competence, service standards and professional performance of beauticians, therapists and beauty consultants across the company’s outlets. The role includes conducting training, assessing staff competency, supporting onboarding and ensuring treatments are delivered safely and consistently according to company protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Technical and Treatment Training
  • Conduct theory and practical training for facial, body and beauty treatments.
  • Train employees on treatment procedures, product knowledge, equipment operation, contraindications and aftercare.
  • Demonstrate correct consultation, skin analysis and treatment techniques.
  • Ensure employees understand treatment benefits, limitations and safety precautions.
  • Conduct refresher training when protocols, products or equipment are updated.
  • Work with management and suppliers to develop new treatment protocols.
  1. New-Employee Onboarding
  • Conduct structured onboarding for newly hired beauticians and therapists.
  • Complete essential training within the company’s required timeline.
  • Prepare training schedules, learning materials and practical assessments.
  • Monitor employees during their probation period.
  • Provide coaching and recommend whether employees are ready to perform treatments independently.
  • Submit probation and competency reports to management.
  1. Competency Assessment
  • Conduct written, oral and practical assessments.
  • Observe treatment delivery and identify skills gaps.
  • Maintain individual training and competency records.
  • Require employees who do not meet standards to undergo retraining and reassessment.
  • Recommend certification or authorisation before an employee performs specific treatments.
  1. Service and Consultation Training
  • Train employees in customer consultation, needs analysis and treatment recommendations.
  • Coach staff on professional communication, customer service and complaint handling.
  • Teach ethical sales practices without aggressive or misleading claims.
  • Conduct role-playing for consultations, treatment explanations and package recommendations.
  • Help staff improve customer retention, treatment conversion and rebooking.
  1. Outlet Audits and Quality Control
  • Visit outlets regularly to observe service and treatment standards.
  • Audit treatment rooms, hygiene practices, equipment maintenance and staff grooming.
  • Ensure staff follow SOPs, sanitation procedures and customer-service standards.
  • Document non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.
  • Follow up with outlet managers to ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Escalate serious safety or service breaches promptly.
  1. Training Materials and SOP Development
  • Develop and update training manuals, lesson plans, assessment checklists and treatment SOPs.
  • Prepare bilingual materials where required.
  • Standardise treatment steps and service scripts across all outlets.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, assessment and training-completion records.
  • Produce monthly reports covering training activities, staff progress and identified skill gaps.
  1. Coaching and Staff Development
  • Provide individual coaching to underperforming employees.
  • Support team leaders in managing staff performance and development.
  • Identify high-potential employees for further development.
  • Monitor employee adjustment and engagement during probation.
  • Recommend additional training based on customer feedback, audit results and business needs.
  1. Product and Business Support
  • Train staff on retail products, home-care recommendations and treatment packages.
  • Support product launches, promotional events, demonstrations and customer workshops.
  • Gather feedback from customers and frontline staff.
  • Work with management to improve treatment quality, customer experience and operational efficiency.
  • Achieve agreed training, service-quality and staff-development KPIs.

Candidate Requirements

Education and Professional Qualifications

  • Diploma, professional certificate or recognised qualification in Beauty Therapy, Aesthetics, Cosmetology, Spa Therapy or a related discipline.
  • Relevant WSQ beauty or wellness qualifications are preferred.
  • CIDESCO, CIBTAC, ITEC or equivalent international beauty qualifications are advantageous.
  • ACLP, ACTA or another adult-training qualification is preferred, particularly if the person will design structured programmes or conduct formal assessments.
  • Relevant equipment or product certification is advantageous.
  • For an internal company trainer delivering only in-house, non-certifiable training, ACLP or ACTA is generally a preferred rather than automatically mandatory qualification. Different requirements may apply when delivering accredited or funded WSQ programmes through a registered training provider.

Experience

  • At least three to five years of hands-on beauty, spa or aesthetics experience.
  • At least one to two years of training, coaching or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong practical experience in facial and body treatments.
  • Experience conducting competency assessments and outlet audits is advantageous.
  • Experience in a multi-outlet beauty or medispa environment is preferred.

  • Comfortable travelling between outlets.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
  • English proficiency is required; Mandarin proficiency is advantageous for coaching Chinese-speaking employees.

Operational Requirements

  • Willing to work flexible hours when training schedules require.
  • Able to perform treatment demonstrations and stand for extended periods.
  • Must maintain professional grooming and personal hygiene.
  • Must comply with company confidentiality, safety, infection-control and data-protection policies.
  • Should not make medical claims, diagnose medical conditions or perform procedures outside the employee’s training and authorised scope.
