AOG Operator / Time Critical Air Freight Operator

We are recruiting for an experienced AOG Operator / Time Critical Air Freight Operator to join a specialist international freight forwarding operation based at Heathrow.
This is an opportunity for an experienced AOG Operator, Air Freight Operator, Air Export Operator or Time Critical Operator to work within a specialist aerospace and aviation logistics environment, managing urgent and time-sensitive international shipments.
The role is approximately 90% air export , with a strong focus on AOG (Aircraft on Ground), time-critical freight and urgent aerospace shipments .
The Role
You will be responsible for the end-to-end coordination of urgent air freight shipments, ensuring critical cargo is collected, booked, uplifted and delivered within strict customer deadlines.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing end-to-end AOG (Aircraft on Ground) shipments
- Coordinating urgent and time-critical air freight movements
- Managing predominantly air export shipments from booking through to final delivery
- Handling urgent aircraft parts, aerospace components and aviation cargo
- Arranging collections, deliveries and time-critical transport
- Booking shipments with airlines and coordinating with handling agents
- Obtaining flight schedules, routing options and uplift confirmations
- Liaising with airlines, overseas agents, handling agents, hauliers, customers and suppliers
- Preparing and checking air freight and export documentation
- Managing MAWB and HAWB documentation where required
- Coordinating customs clearance and export requirements
- Monitoring shipments closely and proactively managing milestones
- Providing regular shipment updates to customers and overseas partners
- Escalating and resolving delays, missed connections and operational issues
- Identifying alternative routing and transport solutions when required
- Ensuring shipments meet agreed SLA, KPI and delivery deadlines
- Maintaining accurate shipment records and operational systems
- Working as part of a wider 24/7 time-critical logistics operation
About You
We are looking for an experienced freight forwarding professional with a background in AOG, air freight or time-critical logistics.
You should have:
- Previous experience within AOG, time-critical logistics, air freight or air export
- Experience working within a freight forwarding environment
- Strong knowledge of air export operations and international air freight
- Experience managing urgent, time-sensitive or critical shipments
- Ideally, experience handling aerospace, aviation, aircraft parts or MRO shipments
- Good knowledge of export documentation and customs procedures
- Experience dealing with airlines, handling agents, overseas agents and transport providers
- Strong understanding of international freight forwarding processes
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- The ability to prioritise multiple urgent shipments simultaneously
- A calm and proactive approach when working under pressure
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Good IT skills and experience working with freight forwarding systems
- Experience with AOG, NFO (Next Flight Out), OBC (On-Board Courier), aircraft parts, aerospace logistics, time-critical freight or express air freight would be advantageous.
