Senior Air Freight Import & Export Operator (Perishables)

Location: Slough

Salary: £32,000 – £40,000 DOE

Hours: Monday – Friday, with late shift opportunities

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Air Freight Import & Export Operator to join an established freight forwarding operation in Slough.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in air freight operations, ideally with experience handling perishable and pharmaceutical shipments. The business is particularly interested in candidates who enjoy working in a fast-paced operational environment and are looking to take the next step in their career.

The Role:

• Managing air freight import and export shipments from start to finish.
• Coordinating bookings, collections, deliveries and customs clearance.
• Preparing and processing relevant shipping documentation, including AWBs and customs entries.
• Liaising with airlines, overseas agents, customers and internal departments.
• Monitoring shipments to ensure service levels and delivery deadlines are met.
• Managing operational costs, invoicing and shipment reconciliation.
• Providing a high level of customer service and resolving any operational queries.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Previous experience within air freight import and export operations.
• Experience handling perishable and/or pharmaceutical shipments would be highly advantageous.
• Good understanding of customs procedures and air freight documentation.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage workloads independently and work effectively within a team.
• Someone with the ambition and potential to progress into a leadership position.

Salary & Working Hours:

• Salary circa £36,000, with flexibility up to £38,000–£40,000 for candidates happy to work unsociable hours.
• A late shift of approximately 13:00–21:30 would be ideal, although other working patterns can be considered.

Career Progression:

There is genuine scope for progression, with plans to introduce a Team Leader position or similar management opportunity in Q1. This would suit someone who can demonstrate leadership potential and is keen to develop within the business.
