The Role

As Warehouse Team Leader, you will steer daily shift operations across our storage and fulfilment centre, guiding your team to achieve operational excellence.

  • Leading daily shift briefings to communicate operational priorities, assign workstations, and set clear productivity targets.
  • Monitoring goods-in, put-away, order picking, packing, and dispatch processes to ensure all customer service levels are consistently achieved.
  • Championing health and safety across the warehouse floor, carrying out routine inspections, and promoting safe manual handling practices.
  • Mentoring, coaching, and developing warehouse colleagues through constructive feedback, regular one-to-one catch-ups, and skills training.
  • Overseeing stock accuracy by supervising cycle counts, investigating discrepancies, and collaborating closely with the inventory control team.

About You

  • Essential: Demonstrable background in a busy warehousing or logistics environment, including proven experience leading or supervising a team.
  • Essential: Strong practical understanding of warehouse management systems, barcode scanning equipment, and standard inventory control methods.
  • Essential: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an approachable style that fosters high engagement, teamwork, and accountability.
  • Essential: Sound working knowledge of UK health and safety regulations, safe working procedures, and incident reporting.
  • Essential: Good analytical skills, with the ability to interpret shift data, balance competing deadlines, and make sound decisions under pressure.

A Typical Day

Your day begins with a thorough handover from the outgoing team, checking outstanding customer orders, and preparing the floor plan before leading the morning team briefing. Throughout the shift, you will walk the warehouse floor, supporting operatives, monitoring packing stations, and resolving pick anomalies using the warehouse management system. Between checking inbound delivery schedules and coordinating afternoon collections with hauliers, you will find time to coach colleagues, conduct equipment checks, and ensure health and safety standards remain uncompromised before summarising shift performance figures for the operations manager.
