Backend Developer Java

Together with our Business Partner from the insurance industry, we are looking for three experienced specialists to implement projects as Java Backend Developer.

The project concerns the expansion and maintenance of an internal system developed by the Partner's IT area.

Daily tasks

• Implementation of changes in the system involving the business logic layer, integrations, and databases – delivering tested and documented solutions.
• Co-creating the system architecture and recommending technical solutions to support its further development.
• Ensuring system stability and performance, including diagnosing and removing the causes of production and maintenance problems.
• Planning and implementing migrations and modernization of existing solutions.
• Preparing and updating technical documentation as part of the deliverables.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of commercial experience in programming in Java (knowledge of Java 21 preferred).
• Very good knowledge of Java/JVM, object-oriented and functional programming, multithreading, memory management, and JVM mechanisms.
• Practical experience in designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-class backend applications.
• Experience in implementing projects related to high-availability systems or those with a large number of integrations.
• Experience in implementing changes involving the business logic layer, integrations, databases, and tests.
• Experience in diagnosing production and maintenance problems.
• Very good knowledge of Spring Boot (version 3.4 preferred), Spring Framework, Spring Data JPA, and JPA/Hibernate.
• Ability to design layers: REST controllers, application and business logic, data repositories, and integration adapters.
• Practical knowledge of relational databases PostgreSQL and Oracle.
• Very good knowledge of SQL, data modeling, and query optimization.
• Knowledge of tools for managing database schema changes, particularly Liquibase.
• Ability to design and implement integrations: REST API, SOAP/Web Services, JSON, XML, OpenAPI, WSDL/XSD.
• Knowledge of Git, Maven or Gradle, JUnit, Mockito or equivalent unit testing tools.
• Ability to prepare unit and integration tests.
• Ability to diagnose errors, analyze logs, and optimize application performance.
• Practical knowledge of JIRA and Confluence.
• Ability to prepare and update technical documentation.
• Practical ability to use AI tools supporting software development (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code or equivalent) – including code generation, test creation, refactoring, existing code analysis, documentation preparation, code review support, and error/log analysis.
• Knowledge of information security principles when using AI tools.
