School Caretaker

Your tasks

About the Role We are currently recruiting for an experienced School Caretaker to work at a school in Slough. This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable, practical and proactive individual who has previous caretaker experience within a school environment and takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean and secure site for pupils, staff and visitors.

The successful candidate will play an important role in the day-to-day running of the school, ensuring the premises are well maintained, secure and ready for use.

• Opening and locking the school premises, ensuring the site is secure.
• Carrying out routine health and safety checks and reporting any concerns.
• Undertaking general maintenance, minor repairs and basic DIY tasks.
• Ensuring the school grounds, buildings and surrounding areas are clean, tidy and well maintained.
• Setting up and moving furniture and equipment as required.
• Monitoring the condition of the premises and reporting maintenance issues.
• Supporting contractors and overseeing site access when required.
• Following school procedures for site security, safeguarding and health and safety.
• Responding to day-to-day site issues and supporting the smooth running of the school.

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a School Caretaker or in a similar role within a school environment.
• A full, valid UK driving licence.
• An Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service.
• A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to carry out basic maintenance and repairs.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
• A reliable, punctual and proactive attitude.
• An understanding of safeguarding, site security and health and safety within a school setting.
