COMMONWEALTH WAR GRAVES is looking for a Senior Head Gardener

Location: The British Cemetery in Ramla

Working hours: 06:00-14:45 summer time 06:30-15:15 winter time from Monday to Friday with a daily one-hour lunch break. There will be cases where working outside of working hours will be required to perform duties, mainly in the evenings and/or on weekends. Alternative time off will be provided for overtime worked.

The role includes:

The role is responsible for the execution and coordination of gardening maintenance and the administrative management of the British cemeteries in Israel. The role includes weekly travel to sites in Israel such as Jerusalem, Haifa, and Be'er Sheva. The role includes daily supervision of the gardening team, ensuring the maintenance of cemeteries and monuments in accordance with the standards set by the Commission, in the most efficient and economical way possible, and external communication with managers abroad.

Requirements:

• Full driving license: Must hold a Class B license
• Good level of English
• At least two years of experience in team management in a gardening environment or at least 6 years of experience in gardening work, including 5 years in managing a gardening team.
• Project management skills.
• Proven reliability, honesty, and integrity.
• Leadership - providing practical guidance and direction to contract gardeners.
• Developing productive working relationships with the team, local authorities, external parties, and official guests at all levels to ensure smooth management of the area.
