Major duties
As a Senior Trade Policy Advisor, you will perform the following duties: Provides expert-level policy advice to the Deputy Assistant Secretary (DAS) on complex trade policy, trade enforcement, and program matters. Leads and manages special and sensitive trade enforcement initiatives and projects on behalf of the DAS. Provides policy and strategic advice and coordinates with other federal agencies and external stakeholders on complex and sensitive trade issues. Directs research, analysis, and development of briefing materials and recommendations for senior officials. Provides leadership in developing and implementing programs, projects, and initiatives that advance organizational priorities and strategic objectives. This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Senior Trade Policy Advisor GS-1101-15, full performance level, GS-15, positions within the Department of Commerce in the same geographical location or local commuting area with the same qualifications and specialized experience. Qualifications
Specialized Experience Requirement: To qualify at the GS-15 grade-level, you must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: Providing policy analysis, advice, and recommendations to senior leaders, clients, or other stakeholders on complex international trade, trade policy, or trade enforcement issues; Researching and drafting executive-level work product related international trade, trade policy, or trade enforcement issues, including but not limited to policy analyses, correspondence, or other products addressing complex or sensitive policy issues; and Serving in a leadership role for complex projects or initiatives involving multiple organizations and stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives, including but not limited to international trade, trade policy, or trade enforcement actions. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
