TRAINING SPECIALIST

You will serve as a TRAINING SPECIALIST in the Navy Region Northwest, Port Operations of COMMANDER, NAVY REGION NORTHWEST.

Major duties

• You will be responsible for training boat crew members in all facets of small craft operations, in accordance with (CNIC) requirements.
• You will conduct Shore Installation Management Basic Boat Coxswain (SIM BBC) courses and their prerequisites.
• You will provide guidance to regions and installation staff on all aspects of driving, operating and maintaining small craft.
• You will t brief key management officials on project status and issues related to various small craft including log broncs, light tugs, barrier boats, utility boats, oil recovery skimmers, boom platform boats and Harbor Security Boats.
• You will ensure all vessel crews are properly performing maintenance and upkeep of the small craft.

Qualifications

GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience conducting classroom instruction using various instructional methods, including formal lectures, conferences, demonstrations, and practical hands-on exercises. Experience applying comprehensive knowledge and technical skills in Navy Deck or Engineering ratings, including Navy small boat coxswain qualifications or equivalent maritime experience directly related to small craft operations, navigation, seamanship, and training. Experience instructing Navy coxswain qualification courses and administering the Navy Personnel Qualification Standard (PQS) for Small Boat Operations to ensure personnel demonstrate the required knowledge, skills, and competencies. Experience developing, reviewing, and updating course materials in accordance with established Navy training guidelines, policies, and instructional standards. Experience revising and modifying existing training courses to incorporate routine periodic updates, changes to procedures or requirements, and improvements identified through training delivery and operational experience. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: Successful completion of a Ph.D. or Equivalent doctoral degree or Successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or Successful completion of a LL.M., if related or A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
