FUEL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM OPERATOR

You will serve as a FUEL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM OPERATOR in Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) in the local Fuel Department at US NAVAL BASE GUAM.

Major duties

• You will initiate, control and terminate fuel transfers throughout the tank farm system.
• You will record gauge readings obtained at regular intervals during fuel transfer, receipt and issue operations and prepare documentation of fuel operations.
• You will direct the loading and unloading of fuel aboard tankers, barges, and the transfer of fuel from one tank to another within the tank storage areas.
• You will calculate rate of fuel flow and regulate tank feed control valves to obtain and maintain adequate pump suction and proper tank levels.
• You will operate valves and switches to properly receive, issue and transfer fuel and liquid nitrogen.
• You will patrol pipelines and tank farm areas, examine facilities and equipment and report the need for repairs.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION - controlling operation of entire multi-fuel storage and distribution system connected by a network of internal pipelines; directing the loading and unloading of fuel aboard tankers, barges and the transfer of fuel from one tank to another within tank storage areas; conducting inventory of petroleum products by gauging, taking temperature and water cuts of tanks and computing readings to net quantities utilizing conversion tables; training others in proper work methods, use of equipment and safe practices related to the trade. Additional Information: Guam is designated as a medically underserved area. Military medical facilities offer space-available primary and limited specialty medical care; however, services are not guaranteed. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. This position is subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by HR within 30 calendar days after the EOD (i.e., start date). The selectee's inability to successfully pass; or refusal to conduct the test may result in: 1) the tentative or final job offer being withdrawn during the recruitment process; or 2) subsequently being removed from Federal service for failure to meet a condition of employment.
