Technician, Data Center Operations - 00:00 - 08:00 Shift

About the position: The Level 1 Data Center Technician is responsible for telephone or email communications with customers as well as the operation and maintenance of the data center. They follow up on every request until they are completed and initiate escalations as needed. They monitor the environmental monitoring system and report any failure or alarm to the appropriate person.

Your daily tasks: Respond to customer requests

Execute customer support requests

Document all interventions and keep the ticketing system up to date

Maintain optimal communication with the customer from the start to the closure of the request

Register customers and visitors

Monitor security and environmental monitoring systems

Apply security procedures and policies

Validate that all equipment is in good working order such as CRAC, CRAH, UPS, Generator and any other equipment related to the data center

Take readings on electrical and air conditioning equipment and fill out the appropriate reports

Install copper and fiber cables as well as patch panels

Maintain detailed site documentation on cross-connects and customer cabling

Ensure compliance with industry best practices regarding both cabling and documentation. Comply with TIA-942 and BICSI standards

Keep the site clean

Available for 24/7 support

What makes you a good candidate: (Qualifications) Bachelor's degree in computer science or telecommunications in progress (preferably)

Technical and mechanical knowledge of HVAC equipment and electrical systems

Excellent knowledge of IT systems such as servers and networking equipment

Knowledge of MsOffice

Autonomous with a good team spirit

Knowledge of English is required for this position, notably because you will be called upon to communicate frequently with other employees as well as with Cologix customers and/or vendors located outside of Quebec.

Comfortable working in a 24/7 environment
