Context

A major player in the banking sector is building a multi-region Private Cloud platform. We are looking for a senior architect to lead the definition, sourcing, and implementation of an on-demand workstation service intended for development, administration, and operations teams.

The target must allow self-service provisioning of Linux workstations across a distributed scope of 3 regions and 9 sites, with high requirements for security, resilience, and service continuity. The architecture will rely on OpenStack and Apache Guacamole.

Contextual peculiarity: the teams that will deploy the target themselves need the workstations that the service must provide. A transitional solution must be maintained and managed in parallel with the design of the target.

What you will do

Define the scope: use cases, target vision, availability, security, and performance requirements

*

Design the multi-region functional and technical architecture, and the service continuity strategy in the event of the loss of a site or a region

*

Arbitrate the resilience model (single workstation, active/standby, multi-region, automated reconstruction) by justifying cost, complexity, and RTO/RPO objectives

*

Define and maintain the transitional strategy allowing infrastructure teams to work before the availability of the target

*

Conduct market benchmarking: specifications, analysis of vendor responses, support contracts, and expertise on open source components

*

Lead the POC, technical validation, and industrialization of provisioning

*

Prepare the RUN: monitoring, operations playbooks, management of OS and security updates, responsibility model between subscriber and provider

Expected Skills

*

Minimum 10 to 15 years of experience in private cloud architecture and critical infrastructures

*

Experience with infrastructure transformation programs under tight scheduling constraints

*

Ability to simultaneously manage architecture, sourcing, and deployment

*

Excellent writing skills (specifications, architecture documents)

*

Strong autonomy and ability to challenge established choices

*

Professional English, minimum B2 level

Technical Skills

Mandatory:
