Expert Ansible Automation Platform - Freelance (M/F)

The position concerns an Ansible Automation Platform expert for a major player in the aeronautics and defense sectors. The mission aims to deploy, secure, administer, evolve, and industrialize the automation platform within a complex technical environment, in coordination with infrastructure, security, operations, and project teams. The role also includes the migration of existing platforms and upskilling internal teams. Remote work possible 3 days per week, operational English required, with experience in aeronautics, defense, or at Safran being appreciated.
The sought profile is very senior, with strong production experience on Ansible Automation Platform: integration, deployment, securing, administration, and operations. Expected skills cover excellent mastery of Ansible (playbooks, roles, collections, handlers, variables, tags, blocks, error handling), YAML, Bash, PowerShell, Linux, Windows, GitLab, containerization related to Ansible, ServiceNow, networks, AWS, and middleware such as Java, Tomcat, and JBoss. Experience in migrating Ansible content between platforms is indispensable, VTOM being a plus.
The main missions first focus on the deployment and administration of the platform: installation, configuration, maintaining operational conditions, incident management, evolutions, migrations, and integration into the existing information system. The consultant must guarantee consistency with infrastructure standards and ensure the follow-up of corrective actions.
The security aspect is central: implementation of security mechanisms, integration of authentication and identity federation (SSO, LDAP, OIDC), administration of rights via the RBAC model, management of secrets with Ansible Vault and/or HashiCorp Vault, and compliance with IT security standards.
The mission also includes significant development and industrialization work: designing and maintaining Ansible playbooks, roles, and collections, automating Linux and Windows operations, producing Bash and PowerShell scripts, applying best practices for development, versioning, code review, and securing, and contributing to the definition of Ansible standards.
The expert must also support internal teams: promoting platform usage, helping technical experts adopt it, organizing knowledge transfer, producing training materials, and supporting transition, migration, and take-over phases.
A significant part of the position concerns configuration management and documentation: identification of components, updating the CMDB, consistency checks between existing assets and the CMDB, writing technical and operational documentation, formalizing installation, administration, diagnostic, incident resolution, and recovery procedures, as well as regular reporting to project teams and management.
Expected deliverables include, in particular, the application installation file, the operations manual, procedures and operating modes, diagnostic and recovery procedures, a diagnostic tree for the HelpDesk, functional and technical acceptance reports, test documentation, CMDB updates, weekly activity reports, and a final project report with a summary of migrations and recommendations.
The ideal candidate has already participated in the design, deployment, and operation of Ansible platforms in production, their migration, the integration of authentication solutions, secrets management, the implementation of RBAC, the automation of system operations, cloud integration, industrialization via GitLab, team support, and the writing of technical and operational documentation.
