CONTEXT & CHALLENGES

Within the Corporate IT department of a major player in the banking and financial services sector, this mission is part of the DatOps project.

The IT department concerned provides the necessary applications for Technology & Operations activities, as well as for Retail Banking and Insurance business lines.

The Data Engineer will join an evolving Data environment and will work closely with the application production / DevOps teams. Their role will be to technically implement business requests, contribute to the evolution of the Data platform, and ensure the robustness of existing processing and pipelines.

As a significant part of the IT team is based in Porto, the mission includes an international dimension requiring professional English both written and spoken.

DETAILED MISSIONS

The consultant will specifically work on the following activities:

  • Design and implement new data ingestions.
  • Perform Data Preparation, processing, and data transformation operations.
  • Develop, maintain, and evolve data pipelines.
  • Participate in the various technical evolutions of the Data platform.
  • Translate and formalize evolution needs in order to transmit them in an actionable manner to the DevOps team.
  • Contribute to the operational maintenance and continuous improvement of existing Data solutions.
  • Write clear, precise, and actionable technical specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with application production teams, DevOps, and various project stakeholders.
  • Technically implement requests arising from business needs.
  • Actively participate in project operations within an Agile / Scrum environment.

SEARCHED PROFILE

We are looking for a GCP Data Engineer ideally having 3 to 6 years of experience, with particularly solid expertise in the GCP / BigQuery / Python / SQL ecosystem.

The consultant must be highly operational in development, ingestion, preparation, and data transformation, as well as in the maintenance and evolution of Data pipelines.

A good mastery of object-oriented Python is expected, as well as concrete experience with Pandas and/or Dask, Bash scripting, Git, BigQuery, and Cloud Storage.

Beyond technical skills, the profile must demonstrate:

  • High autonomy in completing assigned tasks.
  • Initiative and the ability to be proactive.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a real aptitude for teamwork.
  • Strong technical curiosity.
