Technical Project Manager - PTC Windchill - Freelance (M/F)

About the company

CONTEXT As part of an upgrade project for its PTC Windchill PLM solution, a client is looking for a senior profile combining technical expertise and management capabilities. The current environment is based on Windchill version 12 and includes two instances, one of which operates as a mirror of an instance based in the United States. The architecture and dependencies between these environments will be further explored during the scoping phase. The objective is to evolve the platform toward a more recent version, while securing the migration and service continuity. The project is currently being presented to the DSI, with a view to a launch in 2027.

Your tasks

• Analyze the existing environment: versions, architecture, interfaces, specific developments, and technical dependencies.
• Recommend a target version and define the migration trajectory, including any intermediate steps.
• Identify prerequisites, incompatibilities, and risks related to the upgrade.
• Build the project plan: scope, schedule, workload, resources, responsibilities, and milestones.
• Support the DSI in technical decision-making and the validation of the migration scenario.
• Lead and contribute to the technical upgrade operations, in coordination with internal teams and potential service providers.
• Coordinate interventions on the two instances and anticipate impacts on their mirroring operation.
• Work with teams based in the United States to ensure the consistency of operations.
• Organize dry-run migrations, technical tests, non-regression tests, and business acceptance testing.
• Prepare cutover, backup, and rollback procedures.
• Support the production deployment and stabilization of the platform.
• Ensure documentation and knowledge transfer to internal teams.

Requirements

1. Senior consultant, integrator, or technical project manager specialized in PTC Windchill
2. Proven experience in several major upgrades
3. Experience migrating from Windchill 12 to a more recent version
4. Solid technical knowledge of Windchill and its upgrade mechanisms
5. Experience covering the entire migration cycle: audit, preparation, testing, cutover, and stabilization
6. Ability to assess impacts on data, interfaces, specific developments, and technical components
7. Mastery of risk management and preparation of rollback plans
8. Ability to manage an integrator or several technical stakeholders and to challenge their proposals
9. Ability to clearly present scenarios, risks, and decision points to a DSI
10. Experience with international, multi-site, or replicated environments is appreciated
11. Professional English required to communicate with American teams
