Ensure equipment and process systems are appropriately designed, installed, tested, and operated in accordance with approved engineering specifications. Troubleshoot process and engineering issues arising during construction, installation, testing, or commissioning. Work closely with mechanical, electrical, civil, instrumentation, and other engineering disciplines to ensure proper integration of all project systems.

Engineering Design Review & Technical Documentation: Review engineering drawings, equipment datasheets, specifications, bills of quantities, technical proposals, and contractor submissions. Ensure engineering documentation complies with approved project specifications and applicable codes and standards. Coordinate technical reviews and ensure engineering changes are properly evaluated, documented, and approved. Maintain accurate records of design changes, project variations, technical approvals, testing documentation, and as-built drawings. Ensure all engineering documentation required for project handover and operational use is complete and properly maintained.

Process Safety, HSE & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental requirements throughout the project lifecycle. Apply process safety principles when managing projects involving chemicals, fuels, gases, pressurised systems, hazardous materials, or industrial processes. Participate in or coordinate risk-assessment activities such as HAZOP, HAZID, Job Hazard Analysis, and other relevant process safety reviews where required. Ensure appropriate procedures are established for chemical handling, storage, transportation, waste disposal, and emergency response. Monitor contractors and project teams to ensure compliance with approved HSE procedures and safe work practices. Ensure projects comply with applicable Nigerian environmental, engineering, occupational safety, and regulatory requirements. Participate in Environmental Impact Assessment and environmental compliance activities where applicable. Promote a strong zero-harm and safety-conscious culture across all project sites.

Contractor, Vendor & Stakeholder Management Coordinate and supervise contractors, consultants, engineering teams, suppliers, technicians, and other project stakeholders. Evaluate contractor performance against agreed scope, quality, safety, timeline, and cost expectations. Participate in contractor and vendor selection, technical evaluation, negotiations, and performance reviews. Review contractor work plans, method statements, technical submissions, and progress reports. Serve as a key link between senior management, engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, clients, regulators, and project-site personnel. Facilitate regular project meetings and ensure agreed actions are properly tracked to completion. Maintain professional relationships with government agencies, regulatory authorities, communities, vendors, and other external stakeholders where necessary.

Procurement & Equipment Management: Support the preparation of technical specifications for equipment, materials, chemicals, components, and engineering services. Participate in the technical evaluation of vendor quotations and procurement proposals. Ensure procured equipment and materials meet approved engineering specifications and quality requirements. Track critical equipment and material deliveries to prevent delays to project schedules. Coordinate inspections, factory acceptance tests, site acceptance tests, and other quality assurance activities where required. Work with procurement and finance teams to ensure project purchasing aligns with approved budgets and schedules.

Construction, Installation & Commissioning: Provide technical oversight during construction, equipment installation, plant modifications, rehabilitation, and commissioning activities. Ensure installations are carried out according to approved designs, engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturer requirements. Coordinate pre-commissioning, testing, commissioning, performance testing, and project handover activities. Develop and monitor punch lists and ensure all outstanding technical issues are resolved before final project acceptance. Ensure proper operational documentation, manuals, drawings, maintenance requirements, and training are provided during handover. Support the transition of completed projects to operations and maintenance teams.

Quality Assurance & Quality Control: Establish and enforce appropriate QA/QC requirements for project execution. Ensure materials, equipment, fabrication, installation, and construction activities conform to approved project specifications. Coordinate inspections and testing activities and ensure identified non-conformances are properly resolved. Review quality documentation submitted by contractors and suppliers. Ensure completed projects meet defined performance, reliability, safety, and sustainability requirements.

Budgeting & Cost Control: Develop and manage project budgets, cost estimates, cash-flow projections, and expenditure forecasts. Monitor project expenditure closely and implement measures to prevent unnecessary cost overruns. Evaluate project variations and change requests from technical and commercial perspectives. Review contractor valuations, milestone payments, invoices, and claims against actual project progress. Work closely with finance, procurement, and management teams to maintain effective financial control throughout each project.

Project Monitoring & Reporting: Track project performance against agreed timelines, budgets, scope, quality requirements, and key performance indicators. Prepare clear and data-driven weekly and monthly project progress reports for senior management. Maintain project dashboards, risk registers, action trackers, project schedules, cost reports, and other monitoring tools. Escalate significant risks, delays, cost implications, quality concerns, or HSE issues promptly. Present project status and recommendations to management and other stakeholders as required.
