We are looking for a Maintenance Engineer with an Electrical bias to help maintain the reliability and efficiency of a busy manufacturing facility. You'll be responsible for both planned and reactive maintenance, working across a range of automated production machinery and supporting improvements to plant and equipment.
This is a practical role where you'll be involved in fault finding, preventative maintenance, repairs, small installation projects and continuous improvement, helping to minimise downtime and keep production running efficiently.
The role:
- Carry out reactive maintenance and fault finding on automated production machinery
- Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and contribute to improving maintenance routines
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults across three-phase and control systems
- Fault find on PLCs, drives and inverters
- Carry out mechanical fault finding and repairs on industrial machinery
- Diagnose and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Read and interpret electrical and engineering drawings
- Assist with small electrical and mechanical installation projects
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and improved machine efficiency
- Support production teams in achieving operational targets by minimising downtime
- Contribute to root cause analysis and preventative maintenance improvements
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety procedures
- Provide effective and cost-conscious technical solutions to maintenance issues
- Participate in a weekend on-call rota
Skills & Experience:
- Obtained an engineering qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering
- Experience working within mechanical/electricals works, breakdowns, repair and fault diagnosis
- Strong electrical fault-finding skills, especially withing PLC'S, drives and inverters
- Strong understanding of engineering diagrams, HV/LV Switchgear and electrical drivers
- Excellent communication skills
- Full clean driving license and access to a car is essential
Desirable experience:
- ONC/HNC or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- 18th Edition qualification
- Experience with hydraulic systems
- Previous involvement in continuous improvement projects
- Experience within a print or similar manufacturing environment
Hours of work:
40 hours per week, Monday - Friday on a double day shift pattern: 6am - 2pm / 2pm - 10pm
There is also participation in a weekend on-call rota, approximately 1 weekend in 5 . Additional hours may occasionally be required to support operational requirements, particularly during busy periods.
