We are working with a growing and entrepreneurial business based in Andover, Hampshire, who are looking to recruit an experienced Bookkeeper / Finance Administrator to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function across a developing group of companies. This is a hands-on role covering purchase ledger, sales ledger, credit control, bank reconciliations, VAT, payments, intercompany accounting and month-end processes. The successful candidate will work closely with the Directors and external accountants, playing an important role in establishing and developing the finance processes as the business continues to grow. This would suit an experienced Bookkeeper, Accounts Assistant, Finance Administrator or Assistant Accountant who enjoys variety and wants genuine ownership rather than being responsible for one small part of a larger finance function. Key Responsibilities Manage the purchase ledger across multiple companies, including overseas suppliers and multi-currency transactions Manage the sales ledger, including customer invoicing and credit control Process payment runs and deal with supplier queries Complete daily bank reconciliations across multiple accounts and currencies Reconcile sales from multiple channels, including ecommerce platforms and retail operations Manage card show floats and cash handling Raise and reconcile intercompany invoices Process monthly journals for shared premises and service recharges Maintain accurate separation of financial information across the group companies Prepare VAT returns across the group Maintain records relating to the VAT margin scheme Ensure compliance with Making Tax Digital (MTD) Complete month-end journals, including prepayments and accruals Assist external accountants with year-end requirements Liaise with the payroll bureau Help develop and improve finance systems and processes as the group expands About You You will ideally have: At least 3 years' experience in bookkeeping, accounts or finance administration AAT Level 3 or equivalent qualification, or be qualified by experience Good working knowledge of Xero or QuickBooks Experience preparing and submitting VAT returns Strong Excel skills Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a high-volume workload A discreet and professional approach when handling commercially sensitive financial information The following experience would be advantageous: AAT Level 4 or studying towards ACCA or CIMA Experience working across multiple companies or within a group structure Experience with the VAT margin scheme Multi-currency accounting Ecommerce or multichannel retail finance Experience working within a stock-based business Experience reconciling transactions across ecommerce platforms Why Apply?
