Sommelier

Full-time | Private Members Club

We are looking for a knowledgeable, poised and genuinely hospitality-minded Sommelier to join our private members club. This is a hands-on role for an emerging wine professional who enjoys thoughtful service, continuous learning and building lasting relationships with members and their guests. Working alongside the Head Sommelier and wider food and beverage team, you will help deliver a confident and personal wine experience across the dining room, private events and member occasions. You will also develop practical cellar, inventory and fine-wine service skills within a premium collection.

What you will do

• Deliver polished, attentive wine service in the dining room, private events and member experiences.
• Recommend wines with confidence, taking account of menus, preferences, occasion and value.
• Prepare, present, open, decant and preserve wines using the correct temperature, glassware and service sequence.
• Support the Head Sommelier with cellar organisation, receiving, binning, stock rotation, wine-list accuracy and inventory counts.
• Assist with wine pairings, tastings and member education, always following responsible alcohol-service practices.
• Work closely with kitchen, bar and service colleagues to ensure an informed and seamless guest experience.
• Protect member privacy, rare-wine allocations and high-value stock through careful, discreet handling.

Requirements

• Previous wine-service experience in a quality restaurant, hotel, private club or comparable hospitality setting.
• A strong interest in classic wine regions, food and wine pairing, and developing fine-wine knowledge.
• WSET Level 2 or equivalent preferred; commitment to further wine education is essential.
• A warm, calm and professional communication style, with excellent attention to detail.
• A collaborative mindset, personal accountability and the confidence to ask for guidance when needed.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
