Head of IT

Head of IT We are looking for an experienced Head of IT to take ownership of the organisation's IT infrastructure, Microsoft 365 environment, business systems, security and technology suppliers. This is a hands-on senior IT leadership role combining strategic responsibility with day-to-day technical involvement. You will lead the internal IT function, oversee external technology providers, ensure systems remain secure and reliable, and identify opportunities to improve processes through automation and better use of technology.

The Role The Head of IT will be the senior internal point of contact for all IT matters, providing technical leadership while remaining comfortable getting involved in troubleshooting, systems administration, development and automation. You will have responsibility for Microsoft 365, business applications, IT operations, security, supplier management and the ongoing development of the organisation's technology environment.

Microsoft 365, Security & Assurance

• Take technical ownership of the Microsoft 365 environment, including Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams and associated security services.
• Conduct regular technical, configuration and security reviews of the Microsoft 365 environment.
• Maintain and develop automated Microsoft 365 auditing and assurance processes.
• Use Microsoft Graph API and PowerShell to investigate tenant configuration, security settings and operational data.
• Maintain automated audit and reporting processes using GitHub Actions.
• Review security and configuration assessments, investigate issues and coordinate appropriate remediation.
• Maintain appropriate security baselines and ensure changes do not introduce unnecessary risk.
• Manage identity and access controls, including MFA, Conditional Access, external sharing and privileged access.
• Monitor Microsoft 365 developments and assess the impact of changes to configuration, security, functionality and licensing.
