My client is recruiting for an experienced Finance Manager to join their law firm in Luton, Bedfordshire. This is an opportunity to play a key role in the financial operations of an established law firm, overseeing an Accounts team and supporting the wider leadership team. The role would suit an experienced finance professional looking to develop their career within a legal environment. The Role

  • Overseeing the day to day running of the Finance department.
  • Managing and supporting an Accounts team, providing guidance and leadership.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules and other regulatory requirements.
  • Overseeing client and office accounts, reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Supporting the annual Solicitors Accounts Rules audit process.
  • Assisting with budgeting, financial planning and management reporting for the Partners.
  • Supporting the preparation of annual financial statements and liaising with external accountants.
  • Monitoring financial controls, systems and processes and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Managing the monthly payroll process alongside the HR team.
  • Supporting the senior leadership team with wider financial and operational matters.
  • Managing supplier relationships and key service contracts.
  • Promoting strong financial controls and ensuring departmental deadlines are met.

The Candidate

  • Be AAT qualified or a part qualified accountant with relevant practical experience.
  • Have strong finance experience, including bookkeeping, financial controls and accounting processes.
  • Have experience working within a law firm finance function, with legal cashiering experience advantageous.
  • Have knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules and their practical application.
  • Have experience managing, supervising or supporting finance or Accounts team members.
  • Have excellent attention to detail and a strong understanding of financial controls.
  • Have experience using accounting systems and financial management software.
  • Have strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across a firm.
  • Familiarity with legal aid accounting processes would be beneficial.
  • Be proactive, organised and keen to develop within a legal finance environment.
