Housekeeping Supervisor (Hotel / Room / 5 star)
Position Overview The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for supervising daily housekeeping operations and ensuring guest rooms and assigned areas meet the cleanliness, presentation, hygiene, and service standards expected of a 5-star hotel. Key Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate the daily work of Room Attendants and housekeeping team members.
Inspect and maintain the cleanliness and presentation of up to 50 guest rooms per shift , depending on occupancy and operational requirements.
Conduct detailed room inspections before rooms are released for sale or guest arrival.
Ensure rooms meet 5-star standards for cleanliness, amenities, linen, bathroom presentation, furniture, and overall appearance.
Check room status and coordinate with Front Office regarding Vacant Clean (VC), Vacant Dirty (VD), Occupied, Out of Order, and priority rooms .
Identify maintenance defects and report them promptly to the Engineering/Maintenance Department.
Follow up on reported defects to ensure timely resolution.
Monitor room attendants' productivity, grooming, attendance, and adherence to hotel procedures.
Allocate rooms and daily assignments according to occupancy, VIP arrivals, early check-ins, and operational priorities.
Ensure proper replenishment and presentation of guest amenities, minibar items, linen, towels, and supplies where applicable.
Handle guest requests and housekeeping-related complaints professionally and promptly.
Coordinate VIP, long-stay, special-occasion, and special-request room preparations.
Conduct periodic checks of corridors, public areas, pantries, linen rooms, and other assigned areas.
Ensure compliance with hotel standards for hygiene, health and safety, security, and chemical handling.
Monitor housekeeping equipment and report damaged or unsafe equipment.
Maintain accurate room inspection records, discrepancy reports, and housekeeping checklists.
Train, coach, and support Room Attendants and new housekeeping colleagues.
Assist the Executive Housekeeper/Assistant Housekeeper with daily operations and other assigned duties.
Room Inspection Standards Each room inspection should cover: Bedroom cleanliness and dust-free surfaces
Bed-making and linen condition
Bathroom cleanliness and sanitation
Towels and amenities
Floors, carpets, curtains, and windows
Furniture and fixtures
Lighting and electrical equipment
Air-conditioning operation
TV, telephone, safe, and other guest facilities
Room supplies and presentation
Odour and overall room ambience
Maintenance defects
Final 5-star presentation before releasing the room
Requirements Previous experience in hotel housekeeping, preferably in a 4- or 5-star hotel .
Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
Strong knowledge of guest-room cleaning and inspection standards.
Ability to supervise and inspect a high volume of rooms while maintaining attention to detail.
Good communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Professional grooming and guest-service attitude.
Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
Knowledge of hotel housekeeping systems/PMS is an advantage.
