Why you'll love this role as Senior Software Engineer We are seeking an experienced Senior Developer to join our VIEW Product Team within Community Justice Services. In this role, you will contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of VIEW, a business-critical justice platform that supports the delivery of essential services for our customers.
Working as part of a collaborative, cross-functional team, you will design, develop, test and support high-quality software solutions, leveraging your expertise in Microsoft .NET technologies alongside modern engineering practices, including cloud platforms, APIs, Docker and microservices. You will play a key role in evolving the platform while ensuring its security, reliability, scalability and performance.
As a senior member of the team, you will provide technical leadership, contribute to architectural and design decisions, mentor colleagues and champion engineering best practices
What You Will Do Design, develop, test and maintain high-quality software solutions using .NET and SQL. Build secure, scalable APIs and modern service-based architectures. Contribute to cloud-ready and cloud-native application designs. Develop and support containerised applications using Docker. Participate in solution design, estimation and technical planning activities. Drive code quality through peer reviews and engineering best practices. Support platform modernisation initiatives while maintaining customer commitments. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and maintainable solutions. Mentor and support developers through code reviews, knowledge sharing and technical guidance. Contribute to troubleshooting, performance optimisation and production issue resolution. Requirements What You'll Bring Essential Skills & Experience Strong commercial experience developing enterprise applications using C# and Microsoft .NET. Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs. Practical experience with Docker and containerised applications. Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, including testing, source control and CI/CD. Experience working with relational databases and application integration. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams. Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring within a development team.
Desirable Experience Modernising large-scale .NET applications and legacy platforms. Microservices architecture and distributed systems. Cloud platforms and container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes. Event-driven and asynchronous integration patterns. Observability, monitoring, logging and performance optimisation. Infrastructure as Code and automated environment provisioning. Experience working on government, justice, courts, case management or highly regulated systems.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience. Relevant Microsoft, Cloud, Container or Software Engineering certifications are advantageous.
