civil engineering technician

Education:

College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.

Tasks:

• Read blueprints to determine dimensions of structure or system and material requirements.
• Participate in field surveys, inspections or technical investigations.
• Prepare project schedules.
• Supervise or conduct field surveys, inspections, technical investigations and testing of construction materials.

Resource usage and environmental studies:

Environmental assessment.

Computer and technology knowledge:

• Geographic Information System (GIS).
• Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment.
• AutoCAD.
• MS Excel.
• MS Outlook.
• MS Project.
• MS Word.

Civil engineering experience:

• Drainage and irrigation system.
• Sewers and sewage treatment facilities.
• Water control system and structures.

Specialized environmental skills and knowledge.
