Senior Originator – Structured Credit
City + Capital are currently representing a highly successful & well capitalised real estate finance lender and asset management company. They have retained our services to appoint a Senior Originator to their growing team at an exciting time.
The role requires an individual who is highly experienced in development finance and CRE lending as our client looks to continue to scale lending volumes and the lending book.
The successful individual will have considerable scope to originate new business, influence lending strategy and play an important role in the continued development of the platform.
The Company
Our client is an established lending and asset management business with a significant presence across UK real estate and alternative investments.
They currently have upwards of £8bn of assets under-management along with secure and longstanding funding partners driving the lending and book expansion.
Our client is renowned for supporting property developers and investors with access to cash for complex real estate finance projects. This considers ground-up development finance, bridging finance, mezzanine finance and term loans for both residential and commercial investments properties.
The business benefits from an experienced senior leadership team and a strong reputation for taking a commercial and considered approach to lending.
As the lending platform continues to grow, the business is now looking to strengthen its origination capability with the appointment of an experienced Senior Originator for Alternative Structured Credit.
Role Overview
The ultimate objective of this role is to support broader expansion plans, which will be achieved by attaining agreed lending targets.
You will proactively seek to identify and onboard lending opportunities that match the appetite of the business and their funding partners. As part of your role, you will work closely & directly with funding partners to agree, structure & fund loans to the portfolio.
The position combines relationship-led business development with detailed transaction execution. You will work closely with senior lending colleagues, credit and investment decisionmakers, alongside external legal, valuation and technical advisers.
There will also be exposure to the wider capital strategy of the lending platform, where you will be able to directly influence future strategy and commercial results.
Responsibilities
- Identify and originate real estate finance loans that match appetite
- Develop and grow relationships with relevant brokers and borrowers
- Lead deal assessment & structuring, supported by the credit team
- Assess opportunities and lead pricing and term sheet negotiations.
- Oversee the transaction execution & due diligence of new loans
- Work directly with credit committee and institutional funding partners
- Coordinate legal, valuation and technical advisers throughout execution
- Play a mentor role to junior colleagues & manage them wherever required
Candidate Requirements
This position requires an individual who is confident and knowledge across the full end to end lending cycle for commercial real estate lending and development loans. You will have strong origination and negotiation skills, a solid background in credit and a good understanding of how complex deals are structured.
In addition, you will be happy to work in a collaborative environment, confident in direct engagement with funding partners & will be proactive in your approach, quick to spot and address opportunities of issues.
- Experience in development finance is essential
- A demonstrable track record of achieving agreed lending objectives
- Well connected to the relevant brokers and borrowers in the UK market
- A strong background in credit with strong credit principles
- Strong financial modelling and analytical capabilities
- Experience structuring and negotiating complex lending transactions.
- Confidence presenting transactions to senior credit & funding partners
On Offer
Our client is aware that salary ranges are broad at this level and are ready to offer a basic salary based on experience.
The banding shared is between £125k - £175k, with the potential to go higher, if the ideal candidates experience and technical capacity denotes.
Alongside the basic salary will be an outstanding bonus structure that will reward you based on performance. This will drive a significant OTE far above the agreed basic and will deliver significant take home, where successful.
