Laboratory Technician
CIS Armenia International School is seeking a reliable, organised, proactive and safety-conscious Laboratory Technician to join our Secondary Science Faculty.
The Laboratory Technician will support the effective delivery of practical Science by ensuring that experiments, equipment, chemicals and materials are prepared safely and on time. The successful candidate will work closely with Science teachers and the Head of Secondary, under the direct line management of the Head of Science Faculty .
ey Responsibilities
Laboratory & Practical Support
Prepare experiments, equipment, chemicals and materials required for Science lessons, demonstrations and practical activities.
Set up practical activities according to teachers' instructions and ensure everything required is ready before the lesson.
Assist Science teachers during laboratory activities when required and support the efficient running of practical lessons.
Clean, organise and safely store equipment and materials after practical activities.
Check laboratory equipment regularly and promptly report damaged, faulty or unsafe items.
Chemical Safety, Stock & Inventory
Maintain the laboratories, preparation areas and chemical storage room in a safe, clean and well-organised condition.
Ensure chemicals are correctly labelled, stored, handled and monitored according to recognised laboratory safety procedures.
Carry out a weekly inventory check of chemicals, equipment and consumable materials.
Monitor stock proactively so that essential materials are replaced or reordered before they run out.
Maintain accurate records of chemicals, equipment, consumables and laboratory resources.
Purchasing & Resources
Facilitate the ordering of chemicals, materials, laboratory tools and equipment required by the Science Faculty.
Liaise with the Head of Science Faculty, Head of Secondary and Purchasing staff regarding required purchases, replacements and laboratory resources.
Communicate professionally with approved suppliers when following up quotations, orders and deliveries.
Ensure newly purchased materials and chemicals are properly recorded and safely stored.
Examinations
Prepare laboratory materials and equipment required for internal and external practical examinations.
Assist with the smooth running of Science practical examinations and other examination-related duties when required.
Reliable attendance and flexibility during internal and external examination periods are essential. The position may require attendance when scheduled external examinations fall during school breaks or Armenian public holidays, subject to the school's employment arrangements and advance scheduling.
Follow all examination confidentiality, security and safety procedures.
Additional School Responsibilities
Provide occasional classroom cover or student supervision when teachers are absent, as directed and where appropriate.
Provide designated administrative support to the Head of Secondary up to twice per week , depending on the operational needs of the Secondary School.
Undertake other reasonable duties related to the position as directed by the Head of Science Faculty or Head of Secondary.
We are looking for a candidate who:
Has a relevant qualification or experience in Science, Laboratory Technology, Chemistry, Biology, Physics or a related field .
Has good knowledge of laboratory and chemical safety procedures.
Is highly organised, reliable, punctual and attentive to detail.
Can manage stock, inventories and laboratory records effectively.
Is proactive and able to anticipate laboratory needs while also following the instructions and priorities of Science teachers and the Head of Science Faculty .
Is flexible and willing to support the wider operational needs of the Secondary School.
Communicates professionally with students, colleagues, school leadership and external suppliers.
Understands the importance of professional boundaries, confidentiality, safeguarding and established line-management procedures.
Can work independently while being a cooperative and dependable member of the Secondary team.
Previous experience in a school, university, research or laboratory environment would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will be an important member of the Secondary Science team, enabling teachers to focus on teaching while ensuring that practical activities and examinations are properly supported.
