This employer's busy nature reserve is looking for a part-time cleaner to join their friendly team to help deliver a high standard of cleaning and presentation. The main duties include thorough cleaning of the shop/visitor centre and toilet block, to provide a safe and welcoming environment for visitors, staff and volunteers. Cleaning of other buildings, such as the office portacabin and workshop, as well as emptying bins, will also part of this role.

You will need to be self-motivated, efficient and great at cleaning with an eye for detail.

Since the closure of the employer's main Visitor Centre last year, their operation is now spread over several buildings: a visitor centre unit (which includes a shop); a separate toilet block; office portacabin; workshop, which includes an area for breaks and making hot drinks. This role is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across the various buildings, particularly the Visitor Centre and toilets, which will hopefully include a Changing Places Toilet next Spring. The post holder will be required to move between all the buildings, as well as the outside bins, which will mean going outside in all weathers.

Working to a regular cleaning schedule, you will ensure all spaces are hygienic, well presented, and meet high standards so that visitors, staff, and volunteers can enjoy a professional and comfortable setting.

The role also involves following manual handling and safety procedures to minimise risks and maintain a safe working environment for everyone on-site.

A key part of the position is supporting the organisation’s environmental and sustainability goals. This includes carrying out recycling and waste-disposal tasks correctly, using only eco-friendly cleaning products in line with the employer's Environmental Management System, and contributing to the monitoring of waste and recycling data for Green Action Plans and accreditation processes. You will also work with staff and volunteers to reduce waste wherever possible, helping to lower the site’s carbon footprint and support long-term cost savings.
