Design Manager
Job Responsibilities: Review and supervise the submission of project drawings, specifications, and design requirements, ensuring adherence to relevant codes and standards. Manage all design team staff. Oversee and manage all engineering aspects of the project. Liaise with stakeholders to develop the design scope, operational requirements, and ensure clarity of the Design Brief. Advise stakeholders on architectural and design matters such as space planning, layout, design aesthetics, statutory code compliance, and technical issues. Manage the entire design process from conceptualisation to documentation and submission, ensuring coordination and alignment with project goals, including BCA submission Coronet X. Review and provide feedback on architectural design submissions at various project stages, ensuring they meet design requirements, project specifications, and statutory regulations. Manage and review milestone deliverables from the Design Consultants, ensuring compliance with the project schedule, scope, stakeholders’ requirements, local codes, and company guidelines. Review, comment, feedback on the consultant designs, highlight discrepancies or deviations to include design for safety aspects on all proposals. Review, consolidate, response and communicate stakeholder feedback on design submissions, directing consultants to incorporate necessary adjustments. Provide architectural and technical advice during contractor selection and appointment, especially during tender review process. Manage and review contractors’ submissions, including shop drawings, material and sample submissions, method statements, and ensure compliance with approved design specifications. Collaborate with internal project teams and Design Consultants to align project designs with budgetary and schedule constraints. Facilitate all design-related solutions when design challenges arise, ensuring alignment with project objectives and feasibility. Monitor and ensure the quality of on-site and off-site fabrication from a design perspective, ensuring compliance or accordance to design concept or drawing. Conduct regular design coordination meetings to resolve any outstanding issues and maintain alignment between various project teams. Coordinate pre-consultation, discussion with authorities and regulatory bodies for the design, and submission to authorities. Track and monitor design progress, ensuring all submissions and approvals are within project timelines. Arrange, submit, and liaise with regulatory authorities to ensure all necessary approvals and permits are obtained. Act as the main point of contact between the project management team and design consultants to ensure smooth communication. Provide support in ensuring all design activities are in accordance with company policies, processes, and procedures. Submission of all necessary documents for approvals and permits to for submission for any C&S works. Internal coordination with the other departments. Discuss design results with client and other stakeholders. Enhance design aspects to reduce budgetary costs, and improve construction schedule. Approval of as-built drawings. Perform all duties in accordance with CCCC policies, processes, systems, reporting, and procedures Job Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering recognized by the Professional Engineers Board (PEB). At least 10 years of engineering experience in the construction industry. At least 10 years of experience in the design and coordination of vehicular structures and road projects. Strong technical knowledge of civil and structural engineering design, construction methods, and construction sequencing. Proficient in relevant software, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, BIM, and other project coordination tools. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and coordination skills.
