The opportunity
Due to the continued growth and success of Cheltenham Muscat, we are seeking to appoint an exceptional and experienced teacher of BTEC Business (Level 3) to join our thriving Senior School.
The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and delivering an outstanding BTEC Business (Level 3) curriculum, ensuring students achieve excellent academic outcomes while developing the professional skills required for higher education and future careers. The position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of one of the leading British international schools in Oman.
The school
Cheltenham Muscat opened in September 2021 and is Oman’s first premium British school for boys and girls aged 3 to 18. The person
We are looking for a committed teacher who is passionate about their work and motivated by the opportunity to inspire our wonderful students. The successful candidate will have high expectations of themselves and their students, both in the classroom and beyond, with a positive outlook and the ability to build strong relationships with all members of our school community.
Please note that candidates must have at least three full years of relevant teaching experience in order to obtain a work permit to teach in Oman.

Curriculum development, planning and review
Contribute to the development and review of the Business curriculum.
Ensure assignments are internally verified and assessed in accordance with Pearson BTEC standards.
Support standardisation activities and quality assurance procedures.
Maintain accurate student portfolios and assessment documentation.
Remain up to date with developments in vocational education and business qualifications.
Key responsibilities
Teaching and learning
Deliver engaging, innovative and challenging lessons in BTEC Level 3 Business.
Plan and implement high-quality schemes of work and lesson plans aligned to Pearson BTEC specifications.
Monitor, assess and track student progress whilst providing timely, constructive and meaningful feedback to students.
Maintain accurate assessment records and ensure compliance with awarding body requirements.
Ensure lessons in the department are differentiated appropriately using approaches that enable students to access the learning and make excellent progress.
Assessment
Follow school procedures for assessing, recording and reporting on children’s achievements and use this information effectively to convey progress in report writing and record keeping.
Provide students with regular written and oral feedback and encourage them to reflect and respond to their feedback.
Evaluate all academic data gathered in order to inform curriculum adaptation and ensure that learning is personalised for each student.
Plan and implement intervention strategies for those students identified as underperforming.
School and subject promotion
Participate fully in the Cheltenham Muscat co-curricular and school activity programme.
Attend specific marketing events such as Open Days at the reasonable direction of the Principal.
Professional standards
Attend assemblies, parents’ evenings, school functions and other staff meetings as directed by the Senior Leadership Team.
Recognise the importance of being an exemplary role model to all children within the school.
Maintain high standards of professional behaviour in accordance with the school ethos, including timekeeping and personal presentation.

Person specification
Essential
Hold a relevant bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics or a related discipline.
Hold a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, BEd, PGDE or equivalent).
Have a minimum of three years' successful teaching experience in secondary or post-16 education.
Successful teaching experience within Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5.
Have experience delivering BTEC Business qualifications at Level 3.
Demonstrate strong understanding of vocational assessment methodologies.
Have experience of assignment writing, internal verification and quality assurance processes.
Be an outstanding classroom practitioner with a record of securing excellent student outcomes.
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Show commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Have the ability to contribute positively to the wider life of the school.
Be adaptable, resilient and enthusiastic about working in an international environment.
Desirable
Experience teaching A Level Business Studies and/or Economics.
Previous experience in a British international school.
Experience supporting university and career guidance programmes.
Knowledge of Pearson quality assurance procedures.
Experience using educational technology to enhance learning.
