Construction & Assembly Manager
As part of a major player in petrochemical engineering, you will join a team dedicated to the execution of EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) projects in France and internationally, and more specifically to the monitoring of assembly and construction sites.
Your mission: lead mechanical assembly on complex construction sites, ensuring compliance with deadlines, safety standards, and technical performance.
You will intervene in close coordination with the Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Safety, and Commissioning teams, as well as with subcontractors, to ensure the realization of the installations.
Construction & Assembly Manager
Site management and team supervision
- You organize and supervise mechanical assembly activities (piping, structures, metal frameworks, heat exchangers, etc.) on site.
- You manage and lead a team (20 collaborators: Construction Experts, Site Managers), both during the preparation of interventions and sites (from headquarters) and also during the assembly phase, directly on sites.
- You coordinate the interventions of subcontractors (technical assistance, control, welding, NDT, inspection, etc.) and validate their compliance with technical and regulatory requirements (DESP, CODAP, ASME, etc.).
- You participate in safety reviews (HAZOP, FMEA) and guarantee the application of prevention plans and work permits.
Technical management and interface with Engineering
- You analyze and optimize assembly sequences in collaboration with the Engineering teams (Mechanical, Piping, Process) to anticipate risks and logistical constraints.
- You validate technical files (layout plans, isometrics, assembly procedures) and ensure their proper transmission to the field teams.
- You report discrepancies or malfunctions observed and propose corrective solutions in connection with Quality and Engineering.
- You establish progress reports (physical, financial) and alert in case of deviation (deadlines, costs, quality), in close collaboration with the Planning and Management Control teams.
Organization and continuous improvement
- You propose the evolution of internal processes (contractual documents, specifications, tools...) in order to improve the internal functioning of the teams, notably in order to achieve site deadline objectives and reduce technical, legal, and financial risks (claims).
- You contribute to the improvement of assembly methods and the capitalization of lessons learned (REX) for future projects.
You are a graduate of a technical training program from Bac+2 (BTS CRCI, BTS ROC, DUT GMP, etc.) to engineer (ENSAM, INSA, ENSI, ESTP, ESSA, IWE / IWT, etc.) in Mechanics, Processes and/or Welding.
You have a minimum of 15 years of experience in monitoring the mechanical assembly of large process installations, imperatively on EPC projects such as:
- Energy.
- Petrochemicals.
- Water treatment.
- Oil depots.
- Nuclear.
- Thermal power plants.
Experience on international projects, with a concrete presence on sites abroad, is highly desirable.
You have managed multidisciplinary teams (internal and subcontractors) on national and international sites, with proven expertise in:
- Standards and regulations: DESP, CODAP, ASME B31.3, EN 13480, EN 12952, RCC-M, etc.
- Tools and methods: reading plans (PID, isometrics), GMAO, planning software (Primavera, MS Project), Adobe/Autodesk suites...
You rely on solid multidisciplinary technical skills (electromechanics, welding, process, etc.) and are used to managing complex projects with a high diversity of equipment such as: metal frameworks, skids, pressure equipment, etc.
You have a perfect command of English in order to be able to regularly collaborate with international clients or subcontractors, and to be comfortable during your interventions on sites (50% of your time, mainly short trips).
You demonstrate field leadership, flawless rigor, and an ability to make decisions under pressure.
You demonstrate an analytical mind to prioritize problems and a sense of organization to manage priorities in a multi-project environment.
You are recognized for your autonomy, your resistance to stress, and your ability to unite teams around common objectives.
Results and field-oriented, you combine practical sense and strategic vision which will allow you to propose and implement an optimal organization (managerial and technical) in order to further improve the functioning of your team and the sites.
The position is located in the PACA region, in contact with your site preparation team, with travel (regular and short: 50%) to construction sites, in France and abroad; thus, without the desire or capacity to intervene regularly on sites, your application cannot be considered.
