About the company

The medium-sized industrial company develops and manufactures technical products for international customers and has been growing strategically and successfully for many years with its own developed products. Purchasing is responsible for approximately €20 million – from electronic assemblies to investments to indirect requirements. The team: seven employees, operationally well-coordinated, some new in their roles and ready for more responsibility. You are to shape the next step of development.

Your tasks

Therefore, this role is primarily a leadership task: your success is demonstrated by what your team achieves independently in two years – not just by what you negotiate yourself.

Requirements

You know how to keep material available, develop suppliers, and negotiate well. And you know that a strong purchasing department needs employees who take responsibility themselves. At our client, you will bring both together.

What you will work on

  • Developing the team: You agree on goals, give honest feedback, clarify roles, delegate responsibility, and develop your team in a targeted manner.
  • Analyzing and planning: In the first few months, you will gain an overview of the organization, processes, and suppliers, present a plan for the next 18 months to the management – and implement it.
  • Relieving day-to-day business: You simplify recurring procurements and improve processes with internal interfaces.
  • Securing supply: Short-term customer orders meet long lead times. You bring sales, scheduling, and production to the table, negotiate with key suppliers, and build up alternatives.
  • Purchasing economically: Material arrives in good quality, on time, and at competitive costs – even when suppliers increase prices.
  • More than five years of purchasing in the technical industry with in-house development and manufacturing
  • Leadership experience – and concrete examples of how you have challenged and developed employees and how your team has become more independent as a result
  • A leadership style that relies on mutually agreed goals, coaching, and consistency rather than mere instructions
  • Technical understanding of mechanics and electrical engineering; those who have experienced electronics allocation have an advantage
  • A cool head when a supplier fails, and the ambition to find a solution even off the beaten track
  • Business fluent English, both in writing and on the phone

What we offer

What you get

  • Real creative freedom, short decision-making paths, and a management team that wants the development of purchasing and implements good ideas – the result is what matters, not the path
  • A task for someone who rolls up their sleeves professionally and allows responsibility to grow within the team
  • An attractive target salary that does justice to the special responsibility.
