Education:

No degree, certificate or diploma.

Work site environment:

Hog and pig farming. Hog management. Work setting: Rural area. Staff accommodation available.

Tasks:

• Handling animals.
• Marking livestock as proof of ownership.
• Monitoring animal health.
• Perform pig littering activities such as clipping needle teeth, docking tails, administering iron and other medication(s), identification of piglets, and castration.
• Weaning.
• Feed and tend animals.
• Clean stables, barns, barnyards and pens.
• Detect disease and health problems in crops, livestock and poultry.
• Set and monitor water lines, air flow and temperature in barns, pens and chicken coops.

Work conditions and physical capabilities:

Fast-paced environment. Repetitive tasks. Attention to detail. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Ability to distinguish between colours. Sitting. Standing for extended periods. Bending, crouching, kneeling.
