ASSITANT CHEF
ASSISTANT CHEF – CANETTE WINE CLUB About Canette Canette is a new fine wine bar and restaurant at 1 Boon Tat Street, opening in the heart of Telok Ayer. We serve a curated wine list alongside a menu of artisanal French and European produce: cheeses by Christian Janier, charcuterie from Maison Duculty and Saint Orens, foie gras, pâté en croûte, jambon persillé, and warm dishes such as baked Mont d'Or, escargots, croque monsieur and confit duck sandwiches. Our kitchen works from a counter in full view of our guests, so quality, precision and presentation matter in every plate.We are building our opening team and are looking for an Assistant Chef who loves great produce and wants to grow with us from day one. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and plate the menu at the counter: cheese and charcuterie boards, terrines, tinned fish, sandwiches and baked dishes
- Slice, portion and present cured meats and cheeses to a consistent, premium standard- Run daily mise en place and opening/closing checklists
- Receive deliveries, check quality and rotate stock (FIFO); monitor and report inventory levels- Keep the counter and kitchen clean, organised and compliant with SFA food safety and hygiene standards
- Keep accurate temperature, labelling and cleaning records
- Interact with guests at the counter in a warm, professional way, and talk confidently about the products
- Work closely with the General Manager and floor team during service
- Contribute ideas for new dishes and pairings as the menu evolves
Requirements
- At least 2 years' experience in a professional kitchen, deli, wine bar or similar F&B setting
- Experience with French or European cuisine, charcuterie or cheese is a strong advantage
- WSQ Food Safety Course Level 1 (Food Hygiene Certificate) or willingness to obtain it before starting- Good knife skills, attention to detail and a strong sense of presentation
- Clean, organised and able to work calmly in an open, guest-facing environment
- Good spoken English; a team player with a positive attitude
- Able to work evenings, weekends and public holidays on a rotating schedule
- Must be legally eligible to work in Singapore. We are unable to sponsor a work pass.
