Deputy Nursery Manager – Montessori & Forest School

Helping children become confident, curious and independent starts with creating the right environment around them. As a Deputy Nursery Manager, you’ll help shape that environment while supporting the day-to-day running of a small, private setting in the heart of Marylebone. This is a chance to work somewhere that takes a genuinely child-centred approach to early years education, combining EYFS principles with Montessori-inspired learning, outdoor exploration and Forest School experiences. You’ll work closely with the Nursery Manager, supporting practitioners and helping maintain high standards of care, learning and safeguarding.

Your responsibilities as Deputy Nursery Manager

• Support the effective day-to-day running of the setting and step up in the Nursery Manager’s absence.
• Guide and support practitioners while helping maintain consistently high standards of care and education.
• Ensure EYFS requirements are implemented effectively alongside strong safeguarding, child welfare and health and safety practices.
• Support children’s learning, observations and development while encouraging independence, confidence, curiosity and resilience.
• Build positive, professional relationships with parents and families, supporting clear communication around children’s development.
• Contribute to Montessori-inspired, Forest School and nature-based learning while helping develop engaging experiences across the setting.

What we’re looking for in a Deputy Nursery Manager

• Previous experience working at deputy management level within an early years setting.
• A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification or above.
• Strong knowledge of the EYFS, safeguarding and child protection requirements.
• Experience leading, supporting and developing early years practitioners.
• Montessori experience is highly desirable, with Forest School, outdoor learning or nature-based education experience or knowledge advantageous.

Working hours: 4 days per week, 8:00am – 6:00pm.
